What was the problem with the Metzeler's? Bike had Avons when I bought it and were wore out in less than 3000 miles. Put on Metzelers and have 6400 on them and there done. Don't know what to buy next. Looks like Avons are less expensive. But what is the deal with the sidewall pattern, any pics of that?I thought I did good with 348 for both front and back avon cobras from jp cycles... won't do metzeler on the k9 again
On the k9 the Metzler is too wide and rubs belt, has to be cocked to the left a bit to clear belt causing premature bearing wear and more wear on the right.. I got great mileage and will always have Metzler on everything else but my k9.. I swear by them, just not for the k9.. don't know how it'll play out for u on ur bike, but I do hope u don't have the same problems I didWhat was the problem with the Metzeler's? The Metzler didn't rub my belt, I made the tool and lines it up perfectly. Thats good because on the k9 they do and I'm not gunna shave tires on a show quality bike ya know.. but glad to hear that.. wish they worked on mine because that is my tire of preference.. never had an avon.. will find out shortly..The Metzler didn't rub my belt, I made the tool and lines it up perfectly. I just bought a Shinko from them also for $180 with free shippingWhat size did you get......I got a set of Avon cobras 300/35/18 from Rocky mtn ATV for $175 with free shipping.
Ignore the 2nd pic other than the born date, I cut the tire off the wheel

Both side on my Metz cracked too around 4000 miles. Yes I use 42 psi and those were not old dated.I just bought a Shinko from them also for $180 with free shipping
Here's was a surprise to me with my last Metzler, I replaced it because a stone cut the tire into the steel belt, so I changed it anyway. But this is what I found after I removed it, the side wall was cracked and it has a 2013 born dateIgnore the 2nd pic other than the born date, I cut the tire off the wheel

After my last Avon I'm trying running with less PSI I'm at 38. My last tire wore down the middle like it was over inflated and only had about 4500 miles. I have 4K on this one and it looks almost new, for me the lower pressure seems to work better. Both side on my Metz cracked too around 4000 miles. Yes I use 42 psi and those were not old dated.

I run 36 psi on the mastiff, has over 5000 miles on rear and still looks great.

That's not a burnout mark, I didn't do any burnouts the tire opened up after going bald down the middle. My metz was worn to a same shape as yours, except that burnout ark in the middle. New Avon seems like it's gonna last much longer.

What's the born date on that Venom
yes I said Venom
Though you didn't get a lot of mileage, you certainly got your money's worth outta that tireMy metzlers with less than 5000 miles. Switched back to Avons and having really good wear. I will stay with Avons on both bikes .View attachment 35944
