Hey there everyone,

well just to get this post started, I took the bike on a 1,000 mile road trip this past weekend and the K-9 did amazing. I was running late to meet up with the boys so the trip to dallas was about 95+ mph the whole way and the bike did great. I took it a little slower on the way back. This has been the longest trip I've taken on the dog so far, and I loved every bit of it.

My old man has a bull dog with a 117 and we know for sure it has a bigger cam then my K-9 but any other engine work we dont know what has been done to it. His super E carb is in need of a rebuild and we were talking about different carb options.

So I was wondering if I could get some of yall's opinion on different carb options. Should he go with the super G, xxx, mikuni? He doesn't care about all out power, just something reliable. Don't get me wrong he doesnt want to lose any power, but he wants to keep it reliable.

Any one's opinion would be appreciated. Thank you!

I’m a huge believer in the Mikuni 48! This beast will wake your bike up! This is Mikuni’s big racing carb. It’s bullet proof! Simple design and is just SO sweet! I fought my Super G for 6 months and 4 dyno’s trying everything to get it tuned where the mid range would stop falling on its face!382A9922-8571-4F95-AC35-D92828115C7B.jpeg

See that’s right where my g starts to have issues, from about 2500-3500 it has a real bad flat spot then it takes right off.

I’ve heard great things about the mikunis!

My Super G went bat shit crazy when I put the cone air intake on. I lost the mid range which would throw me farward and as top end jets kicked in would throw me backwards violently. I kept after it rejetting and running Dyno after Dyno, going to different mechanic shops. Problem got worst and my old mechanic and old Flat Track racer Ricky Farmer said Fuck that Super G! Let’s put a monster on the bike and forget about this issue. He installed the Mikuni and did one Dyno run to set it up. Da’ Black Bitch came ALIve!!!

Under the carb, that pull knob is your new enricher pull. The long tube dangling is a twist idle adjustment. I twist it 4-6 rounds when cranking up my bike so it idles at 1300rpm for a few min warming up, then twist it back down to 700. Takes 8 sec to adjust idle sitting on your bike! By far it’s the best add on I have done to my dog!!!!

Ok one more question. Can the old man still run the factory air cleaner and such with a mikuni? Or would he have to go with a different set up?
