@ this point I think BDL is one of the few still in business? Vicious Cycle Works can probably answer a lot of ur technical questions.

You will be hard pressed to find a open primary for that year currently. Some say BDL is working to provide a open primary option for the RSD bikes. I suppose time will tell.

I spoke with Scott after the first of the year, he said that someone had brought them a 2006 k9 I believe and that they were mocking it up. I'll have to give him another call and see how the progress is coming and let him know that everybody is ready to get their open primaries so they can get them installed before summer. lolYou will be hard pressed to find a open primary for that year currently. Ok Talked to Scott today from BDL, and they are in the final stages of getting things ready before starting production on the new line of Big Dog open primaries. Here is what he said:

Well bad news guys, I spoke with Scott about 2 weeks ago and he informed me that the open belt drive project has been shut down. This came as a shock considering that they were so close to finishing one on a bike that someone lent to them as a test bike. But Scot had an accident and has been out of work for about 3 months now, he said when he came back to work he was called into the office of the boss and informed during his time out that they decided to cancel the open primary project due to what it would cost the consumer and that they just don't see the sales numbers needed for them to build one. Scott has told me that when he gets things caught up that he will push for the project to be started again, they do have 1 motor plate that he said they will keep just incase they do start the project again. I hate that I waited 2 weeks to tell you all, but I was hoping he would call and tell me the project was still alive. I will however keep looking for custom parts for our bikes. Speaking of which, check out my new post about the 2009 and 2010 bagger. Think I found us a saddlebag and fairing maker. Talking with Donna and Derek about it now.

So what exactly is the difference in the 2003 chopper vs 2006 pit bull or K9? Is it the offset? The length of the primary. BDL makes an open primary for the 2003 chopper it also fits the 2003 soft tail custom HD. So what’s the difference in the primary’s? I do a ton of custom machine work .

The DSSC primary is completely different. The starter sits lower and the bolt holes are different.
I been expecting this post for quite awhile.
