It sounds like the enrichner (some call it choke) is stuck in the on position, or the
plunger is stuck, or the vaccum plug is cracked or missing off the back of carb.
Will it rev up in neutral, if so then probably not any of these things?
Starts, Idles and revs up fine in neutral or in 1st gear with the clutch in. Put a new enrichner (choke) on during Sturgis last year. Both black vaccuum plugs on carb are good. with it in gear, and plugs are pulled out (not running of course) we can roll it around/over, tranny should be fine, not locked up.

If you have a stand, I would have to agree with Tex and try putting it in gear with the rear wheel lifted off the ground. The bike fires up and runs fine, idles fine, the clutch pushrod is activating properly so you can put it in gear with the motor running, but when you release the clutch, it dies. I still think it's tranny related. Just because it's not locked up does not mean it's working properly. But that's just my guess. Jack it up and see if it does the same thing.

Dark Brown? Sounds Rich?

My Buell does that as a precaution if I try to take off with the kickstand down. I'm still new to the dogs, but are there any safety sensors like that on these bikes that could be causing his problem?

Sounds like..either gas or clutch adjustment issue... I read your post... you said when you put it "in" gear It dies.... even reving it up and putting it "in" gear....does it do the same thing? Ive read all the comments on here and everyone on here has got the right answer..
Check carb for air leaks...b12 carb cleaner... cause when its under a load it dies
Check clutch for adjustment...could be way out..

Thats it Iam done!!! :) :)

I can put it in gear fine, with the bike idling fine, if I really work the throttle (nursing it or extremely reving it) and clutch I can get the bike to move. Under normal conditions though, it will start to die as soon as I try to move.

With that being said, I got it to go down the road last night. It kept bucking, sputtering, missing, acting like it was either running out of gas or dropping out without spark. When it runs, it runs great. It keeps dropping out or something....ARGH!!!!!

That almost sound like a plugged jet! I would check them out if possible... do this... take air breather off ..look inside carb and throttle it to see if gas is being shot in there...

I thought you said it wouldn't go at all after releasing the clutch, but what you're saying is it will go with just the right amount of throttle. Just because you have a new accelerator pump does not mean it's adjusted properly. But, if it's working right while in neutral, it should work right while in gear. Sounds like it's starving for fuel. I would check fuel flow just to eliminate that. Shut petcock off. Remove fuel line from carb. Get a small jar/glass under the line and turn the petcock back on to see how much flow you're getting. It's been doing this for almost a year? If you have good fuel flow, I would look at a carb rebuild with new jets. But there's a lot more folks on here a hell of a lot smarter than I am, so take this with a grain of salt.

try borrowing a coil off of some one I had one go bad would not pull under a load, thought it was fuel related for the longest time. good luck

I'm leaning this way also, if the bike runs and revs fine, doesn't sound like a fuel issue but more ignition/electrical related. I'm sure if you google our search you tube, you can find info on testing a coil.

Took the coil and wires off, had them tested (ohm, mm ohm) the whole nine yards, wires and coil tested fine. Its the stock DYNA coil from 2004 with 14,230 miles on it. You trying to tell me "it's time"

The petcock screen and tank liner are brand new. Removed the bottom of carb and hooked fuel line (3/8") back ot it, opened the petcock, needle and seat are working great, float allows it to fill the bowl and shut off flow when needed. Just bought a new coil today......fingers crossed:confused:

Completely overhauled/cleaned the carb..... found a spec of the fuel tank liner material in the intermediate jet. Glad I had the fuel tank liner redone by Fuel Tank Services in Fort Lauderale, FL. over the winter. I cleaned the carb before but never totally removed the intermediate jet. The DaVinci kit was also pretty nasty coming off the main jet. Thanks to everyone for your input and ideas. I've ridden so much in the last 2 weeks, I now have to replace a blown fork seal......lol, lol. I'll be checking that operation out under the "how-to" section.
Thanks again.

I'm kinda surprised a spec of liner made it through the petcock screen,,these liners are a pain in the ass,I've had my dealings with it,albeit from what I understand it's the ethanol in the gas that's to blame..sounds like yer up and runnin, enjoy:cheers:
