2004 Ridgeback 107, wire-plus mod completed, fuel tank has been professionally relined/resealed (fuel tank services), carb pulled and cleaned over and over, installed new accelerator pump just for good measure, also replaced fuel line to a 3/8"(trying anything). Ignition switch that came with the wire-plus mod was changed out also. I heard that was giving some people issues. Changed out numerous plugs, all were light brown coffee color and dry. Changed out choke plunger. I too, am at a lose.

The issue I'm having; the bike starts and idles fine, when I put it in gear and try to move, it falls flat on its face and dies, even when assisted with extra throttle. Starts right back up, just to do it again. I can't get the bike to pull itself out of the garage.:bang:

Any assistance with this would be greatly appreciated this has been on-going since the Sturgis rally last year.

Does it lunge or move any when you put it in gear? Is your clutch releasing properly?

no lunging, typical "in gear" stuff. As I try to move while sliding the clutch it just spits, sputters and dies. Months back I had issues after I would get it going down the road. It felt like it was always running out of gas, jerking and sputtering, cutting out, but would catch up to itself eventually. I guess, whatever the is, has progressed into this.

Throwing it out there....have you checked to see if your brake calipers are stuck?? Or perhaps you have a blockage in your fuel petcock?

rolls around the garage nicely, as I've had to move it out of the way a lot getting to my other bikes that seem to be treating me better. The petcock was cleaned and re-installed when I got the tank resealed over the winter.

What happens when you rev the motor with the bike in neutral?

It sounds like the enrichner (some call it choke) is stuck in the on position, or the
plunger is stuck, or the vaccum plug is cracked or missing off the back of carb.
Will it rev up in neutral, if so then probably not any of these things?

Also try putting it on a stand and put it in gear sitting in the garage. That way you can check and see if the Trans is locked up.

Well, if it starts and idles fine, I assume it revs up fine too. Brake calipers are not stuck. It sounds like it's being narrowed down to either the clutch or the tranny. I would guess the clutch since it dies as soon as it's put in gear with the clutch pulled in. How does the tension feel when you pull on the clutch? With the motor off, can you put it in gear, pull the clutch and roll the bike around? If not, I would begin with the simple checks first. Remove the clutch pushrod cover and make sure it's adjusted properly. Unlock the jam nut, turn the clutch pushrod all the way in until it makes contact, then back off 1/4 turn and tighten the jam nut. The adjust your clutch cable to take out any slack.

If it starts and you can put it in gear with the motor running, but it dies when you release the clutch, then it's most likely tranny related. With the motor off, can you feel the gears engage as you go through them? If the gears are locked up, putting it on a stand won't do you much good. You can pull the cover off the tranny and remove the shift drum and have a look see for any broken gears. I would start by draining the tranny to see if any metal comes out. If it does, then you know it's most likely your tranny.

I second the accelerator pump
How can you "second" it? No one has "first" it yet. I can only guess from all the issues I've had, and fortunately, the accelerator pump has not been one of them. So, it could very well be that as well.
