hey guys this mite be kinda long. i been reading some posts bout leaks and venting and oil caps popping off etc.. i called S&S tech --guy was helpful and stayed on phone w me for bout 30-40 mins .he was great guy and explained alot to me... i first had smoking from my exhaust (oil smoke) i followed some good advice removed and blocked off front hose from head and routed rear hose to ground. smoking stopped. i also vented flywheel cavity w hose and pcv valve. last week i noticed oil leaking around crankcase bolt under rear cylinder. looking on S&S site i saw a technical bulletin rellating to the same problem only for the front bolt directly opposite where my leak was.. so anyway i call S&S tech tell him my whole story and he tells me everything ive done is great, but the most likely problem -relating to all my issues is too much oil. i tell him ive changed oil inc draining crankcase and filled w 3 quarts per manual.. he tells me that on bikes w oil tank like mine, the oil tank cavity is to small and pressure is building- pushing oil out wherever it can... he proceds to tell me 2 and a half quarts of oil is most i should fill. dont know if this applies to everyone, but i can say it all l seems to be "right " when im half quart low. wat do you guys think?? by the way ... the crankcase bolt leak has a repair bulleting that includs replacing the case bolt washer w metal washer w rubber center.. i ordered 2 and gonna put them on also.
