oil from rear breather hose

Just a thought...

It could be the oil filter isn't passing enough oil back to the tank and flooding the engine sump at higher RPMs. You could try a different brand oil filter. K&N 170 with 20-50w oil seems to work on our 117's.
i wondered bout this too...

Had a buddy claim that the oil from this got on his rear tire and he washed out going around a corner and crashed ...was driving a "swift bar chopper" 117 SSW , he was busted up pretty good... be careful !

All the standard EVO filters I have seen have allow the oil to drain back into the tank without going through the filter when things get backed up. If you accidently picked up a filter for a Twin Cam that would have an anti drain back valve which would prevent that.

Regardless Good point! Might be worth a shot to just replace the filter  Plus its cheap
i am gona try that first... ill let you guys know next week when i can ride

Ok, part of my wild weekend, I had to deal with oil puking down the side of my bike. I had to claen it off several times before I found where it was coming from. The oil is comimg out of the back side of my air cleaner.
This thread only talks about how to put a band-aid on it. I want to know why it's doing it in the first place.
I have the 03 chopper w/ the 107
I am useing Mobil 1 full synthetic for v-twins, with a KN-170c oil filter. I couldn't find any thing on the package that says what the microns are.
It was doing it worse at 70- 75mph. nothing below that, and not as bad running 75-85mph.
Why isn't it being sucked down the intake?
Does the banjo clamps have check valves in them, or is it the 117 and larger that has the check valves.
The plugs look ok, considering the air filter is totally soaked in oil.
My compression is good, and don't ask how many miles are on it, I have no idea.
I'm going to build an oil breather container, would it be better for it to be higher that the valve covers, or go ahead and mount it to the bottom of the bike?

Take some oil out. I use to run 3 qts of oil and the puking went away.

No ideas from anyone why the oil is coming out of the air cleaner? A little bit was normal, but this was bad. I thought I popped an o-ring on the push rod tube, there was so much.
I made me up an oil breather container, and thought about this a lot and decided to mount it higher than the valve covers, so the oil would drain back into the engine. If it is the vents on the top of the heads where the oil is coming from. The crank case vent is still conected to the air cleaner backer plate. At least now I'll be able to tell where it is coming from.
The breather, I made out of a piece of stainlees pipe, and pluged both ends. Inside I used some of that green foam from a lawn mower air filter. I made the brackets out of aluminum, and polished it all and mounted it to the upper engine mount.
I'll let you know if this works or if it was a stupid idea.

Nice assembly and design. It should help if there isn't another underlying problem causing higher top end case pressure.

I would use the recommended thirty micron oil filter. Anytime you decrease micron size in a filter you build a little more back pressure.
