Not sure if this is the correct place to post this, however need help. I have a 2006 BD K9 with only 2000 miles. A lot happen and my son and I installed a new Wire Plus. Took us all day, since we were very careful about splicing and putting it together correctly. Only mistake was that we did not have as solid a ground as we should have. So to remedy that we pulled all of the grounds together and came up with a solid ground. It curred some of the issues, except for the brake light that is on the front brake lever it does not light up the back brake light when pulled, the tach is eratic and the neutral switch stays on in all gears. We called Wire Plus and the tech was very nice and related it all to a bad ground (which I think we fixed). However we are still having trouble with the Brake light at the lever (which is hard to understand since I would assume that the foot and hand are connected together, even rewired that), the neutral light stays on all the time and the tach does not work. Now a new problem, it will not start, cranks good just will not start. We checked to see if we were getting fire to the plug and we are not, had the coil checked it was fine. Please someone help us with these issues:
Brake light will not come on when hand brake is applied
Neutral light stays on all the time.
Tach is eratic
Will not start (coil good and is getting gas, and yes it has gas).

If Wire Plus is on the forum or anyone else that can help it is greatly appreciated. My son in the Air Force wants to ride.

Thanks
Dick

Dick....you may not get the answer to your question here. This is a PDM thread. PDM is different than a Wire-Pus. Try starting a new thread with your questions, you will have a better chance of getting feedback with a new thread. Let me know if you need help starting a thread and I'll post it for you.

glarkin,

As Mickey suggested, you may want to creat a new thread with the issue for the WP and it may get attention of many that can help you out.

Good luck and let us know how you make out, I am sure that of the many members on here, it hey see a specific targeted Thread, they will jump on it and help as much as possible.

Well this post is going to end very soon and I see some new activities, most appear to be some problems.

Would be nice to had seen some of the problems and issue that people (who have one installed) have had so that maybe other can gather information, but I guess that is not going to occur.

Thanks for all the vote and input, good or bad, from those that decided to pass some info that may help other members.

Oh the few that have a PDM installed, either retro or original, trying to get an idea of how it has been performing so far.

If you have one, please indicate was an original BDM install, one you did your self or had some do. Also mileage on it so far, if problems please give a little info on such.

Thanks

I've had my PDM kit now for almost 3 years. About 10,000 miles and its worked perfect so far. It was installed by Rodneys in Little Rock AR. I was in Rodneys last month and they were installing the RIP kits in 3 bigdogs. They told me thats what they were going with now.

I installed PDM last October, I bought it from BDM performance before they went out of business. Ran great in the fall into the winter, but left me sitting at Fontana dam in May..:total of 1500 miles. All the bells and whistles still worked, it just shut the ignition module off and would not arm. After countless hours of checking wires and not finding any grounded wires, and talking with a few on the board, determined it to be a fault in the hand control interface module. The start/run/off buttons no longer work. If a turn signal or brake light is on when turning the key off...the lights will stay on and blink rapidly...if they are not pressed while turning key off all is fine. I just got around it by hard wiring the ignition module and starter so I can arm the module with a toggle and momentary switch for the starter.

so basically you did what I did with my WP system. Hot wired it so you could ride... At least you had the knowledge to do it. :2thumbs:

I have a 2008 K9 EFI, with the Medalion Speedo. Had PDM system installed by Lifestyles Honda after their BD Tech was let go. I've had numerous issues with the wiring they did that I've been able to work through, except one- my check engine light glows dimly when the bike is running. I've been told it needs a pull up resistor, but I've installed several now with no change.
I'm beginning to wonder if it's a wiring issue. But hasn't anyone else experienced this condition on their PDM system???
