If you're losing tranny oil like Camaro was in the earlier post, I would definitely look for a broken clutch basket. When it breaks, you lose the seal between the tranny and the primary and tranny fluid ends up in your primary.

I had the same problem...noise on downshift decel. Was a defective bearing inside transmission. Since it was less than a year old Baker rebuilt it charging me only $80 for parts, no labor. Of course you have to pull it out of the bike and pay shipping.

When I drained the primary, I had exactly 1 qt of fluid in there so the seal should still be good. I replaced the mainshaft seal, clutch hub washer, and removed the clutch basket to mainshaft oring per the service bulletin about 3000 miles ago do to the primary filling up with trans fluid and it fixed that problem.

Which bearing was it and did the noise sound like my video above?

Opened the primary and shot a video with the cover off hoping to locate the noise. Founds some noises but not what I was expecting. Sounds like its my throwout bearing. Pulled the clutch pack off and everything looked good including my throwout bearing. In the second video, was curious if the driveshaft noise is normal? I also drained the transmission oil and had correct amount and no metal flakes. Any recomendations on what to try next? May want to turn down the volume on the fisrt video. My exhaust makes up most the noise.

Sounds rough to me. Is the cage broken on the input shaft bearing? Any up/down play?
Thanks for the reply Bobby. Cage is good and shaft is tight. This one really has me digging. Everything sounds normal when out riding and shifting up through the gears, just when I downshift and put load on the transmision do I hear the whining. More so when the clutch is pulled in like the first video I posted of me riding. I sent Baker a video of the noise and waiting to hear back before opening up the transmission.

Thanks BigDogBro1. Whats confusing is the noise heard when turning the shaft was the same when I replaced the mainshaft seal, clutch hub washer, and removed the clutch basket to mainshaft oring per the service bulletin about 3000 miles ago and doesn't sound any worse now than before. Any advice on the decel sound?

I rode mine for a month or more...never got any worse, but never went away. I knew in time something more serious would happen. So pulled it for a rebuild. Fix was gone after new bearings, seals. No problem since then

Thanks again Knuckles. Looks like it's time to start getting part #'s together for a rebuild :(

I think I have the same problem. Started last week:bang: Here is a video of it. My neighbor probally thought I was pretty conceited when I set the camera up, lol. Also. I noticed about the same time that it was harder to downshift into 2nd or 1st gear...like the clutch wasn't fully disengaged and the shifter would try to kick back. Noise starts around 0:40.

Update:

Was thinking today that maybe the belt was keeping tension on the pulley and that's why i didn't notice any play in the shaft on the left side. Loosened up the belt, grabbed the shaft from the left side, and looks like I have found play. So it's confirmed now that a rebuild is in store for me! I'll be sure to take pics of the rebuild process once I get everything I need. And a big THANK YOU to everyone that helped diagnose this problem!
