No spark, sometimes

I've beat my head against the wall all day long on this. 04 Chopper/ w 05 EHC. When I went to buy this thing, he said it fired up that morning. When I got there, it started and I took it for a test ride. Got ready to leave, it would fire. Checked it out and found it had no spark. The next morning, he called and said it started, got there, it wouldn't start. This weekend, he called and said it started, got there it wouldn't start. Got it home, it fired up, and I took it for a ride. Got back, went to put it on the rack, it wouldn't start.
Cleaned out the gas tank, and rebuilt the carb, and put fresh gas in it. It's not a fuel problem.
It started this morning, 8 times while I checked to see what all the lights on the EHC and ignition module were doing. Was going to take it for a ride, won't start, no spark.
I plugged another EHC in it, still no spark. I have power to the coil, and can manually load it, and it will spark. Even tried a different coil, still no spark.
I have power to the cam sensor, and it test ok with the Ohm meter. None of the lights on the EHC or ignition module do anything different, when I have spark, or when I don't.
The only thing I don't know how to test, or have an extra to try out is the ignition module. It's the smaller one with two plugs on it. does anyone know if there is a way to test it.

So when it dies is there anything happening with lights on the EHC? That ignition light illuminates even when no spark and stays lit?

As you can see in the video if I pressed on the connector I could toggle the light on/off.

Video sucks cause this was back in 2011...cell phones have come a long way

While it was starting, the lights on the EHC and ignition module, are working the same as when it won't. I get a green and yellow come on when the key is turned on, a red one on both the EHC and the ignition box when the run button is pushed.

I'm getting power everywhere I'm supposed to. just not a signal to the coil to fire.

I'd say you have a short in the ignition module somewhere or a break in the wire...

Off hand I'd say check the wire going out when cranking to see if it's putting out power. If it's not i'd check the wire coming in... Somewhere there is a break maybe in the unit itself... Also check the wires on the coil because they could ground out on the cover. Take the cover off... Also, one time I had a bad coil that would do that. It finally puked out orange shit and quit...(75 miles from home) Good luck

If ya have a spare cam sensor, toss it in n see. Just a hunch.....

If the ignition module has 12v on the input but does not flash when cranking I would suspect cam sensor.
If the ignition module flashes when cranking I would suspect the output wiring if the coil is good.

Sounds exactly like the problem I had prior to the Kansas get-together. Darned bike would run, then it wouldn't! Shannon, I'm surprised you haven't got it fixed already! I had that same thing happening, and you saved my butt by sending that ignition module to me. Isn't that what always happens? You have it, you never need it---you get rid of it, you really need it now!! Betting on the ign module!

I think @dentdude36 had an ignition module for sale cheap. I'm thinking it's gotta be the one thing you're not sure of.

I'm sure it's the ignition box, just want to test it before I spent $260. It has to be an 04 or older module with two wires.

Send it back to thunder heart I believe they will test it for free. I would give them a call first just to be safe.
