No clutch

It's either your bearing or ball and ramp skipped. Did you take your ball and ramp apart? All apart? It may LOOK correct but it's NOT!

This is EXACTLY what happened to me once and it was the ball and ramp, not the fluid. Just my .02

The clutch plate is being pushed out when you squeeze the lever. Could the ball and ramp still be out of adj? I pulled it apart and set it towards the back where it rests.

I can pull it back apart and post pics if you don't mind giving them a look over.

Although he did say he can see the pressure plate move?

I'm a little confused at the issue at the moment, just sounds like a bad clutch adjustment.

I will say on the 12 plate system the steels are pretty thin and actually wear. I had to increase the steel thickness of a couple of the plates to bring my clutch stack back to spec. When the clutch pack gets outta spec it's not easy to adjust it, kinda finicky. I just dropped in 2 thicker steel plates and like yourself I could steel read "energy one" on the friction plates.

The other key is do you have the updated pressure plate? The stock pressure plate was aluminum piece of crap and wore the plates funny. The updated one is hardened

My clutch and clutch plate were moving perfectly, about 1/8-1/4 inch every time I pulled my lever, adjusted clutch and lever, I adjusted the ball and ramp and clutch a few times thinking it was right.....it wasn't.....it WAS THE BALL and ramp......

You are welcome to call me and we'll chat while you are by your bike.

Thank you to all who gave advise. Mark walked me through the whole 9 yards of the clutch. After soaking the clutches in ATF the clutch now works. I post an update on a test ride tomorrow if the weather holds out. Thank you all so very much for you concern and help!

Honestly it was more a combination of throwing ideas at each other and Travis finally soaked his plates in ATF. I've used DEL RAY fluid from Harley with out any issues before but Travis got the 'weird new shit' (my terminology) from HD and I think we gathered it made the clutch plates STICK together.....

So, always use what's called for as far as fluid, and Travis can tell you the name of the stuff he bought so no one else uses it....

:old2: to Travis (@Big Daddy 72)and his patience and LOGIC!!!!

It is the new formula + from hd

Pretty sure it's for the new HD's with the compensator (sp)

From what I've read it works good in those bikes.

Not worth a flip in my 06 mastiff.

Still haven't road tested but I'm 99.9% sure the ATF trick fixed it.

Within a few sec of rocking the bike back and forth in gear with the clutch pulled in the plates freed up.

Got a question, bike is all back together, except I broke the inspection/fill hole cover at the top back corner. Didn't tighten it very tight was using a little 1/4" drive ratchet and was holding it by the head of the ratchet and it went snap..... Shit...

Any who think i can rig up a little clamp/washer to hold until I get back from vac.

Ok for my question, I've read several different answers. How much fluid does the primary hold?

Everywhere I've read it's 32oz/1 qt. correct?

The primary says 1.5 qts any one with solid ans?

Yep formula + locked up my clutches. The clutch is labeled energy one. Same clutch that was in the bike when I got it.

It runs and shifts great with Lucas simi syn. Trans fluid.

I can even find neutral while it's running with a little bit of finesse.

Does not lurch or pull while in gear anymore either.

I was told by a reputable shop owner to run ATF so after this little exp. I'm sticking with ATF.

Just wanted to report back after riding over 200 miles zero clutch problems. Matter of a fact my bike will go into neutral now with the engine running, and does not slam into 1st gear. Clutch is clean and smooth zero complaints.

I did go for a 200 mile ride with my brother and we had a blast thanks to all!!
