No clutch

No clutch at all today.

Started the bike put it in gear and it died.

Shut it off put in neutral pull in the clutch, it didn't engauge.

Adjusted the rod to 1/8 turn back still no clutch.

Drained the primary and the oil way a greyish black color. Yesterday it was fresh oil. I rode the bike 6 miles.

I pulled the primary cover and the clutch was moving back and forth about an 1/8" took the clutches out of the basket and you could still read the writing on the back of the friction disc. No burned steels did not look like anything was wrong.

What the hell am I missing here?

I've ridden this bike 56 miles since I've owned it. Can't seem to make it around the block without a breakdown. Really frustrated....... Ican provide pics if necessary. Any insight or help would be greatly appreciated.

You have previously adjusted traction on this bike? Check for breakage cable? Why 1/8? Before adjustment, you have to fully lengthen the cable. Next, turn the adjusting nut pushrod until the load. He starts to spin very tight. You feel it. From this position of 90 degrees backward. Further, by adjusting the cable. Free wheeling clutch lever you have? Required to be free wheeling. Probably broke mount cable to the arm cutoffs of coupling.

Pulled everything back apart completely rechecked everything.

Cable ok not broken

Pulled cable and rod mec. Completely apart reassembled it's all ok.

Pulled primary cover and pulled clutches, checked and reassembled everything ok.

Maxed out cable then adjusted rod. I turned it in until slightly tight then backed out 1/8 turn.

Gonna adjust cable now and see if that worked.

Why 1/8 of a turn? What year is your bike? Turn the nut back by 90 degrees. After that, be sure to adjust the cable. Make a small free lift the clutch handle. If you do not make a small free lift, the clutch can slip. Check correctly assembled clutch basket. Tighten the nut with Loctite. Check round puck. I do not remember what it's called. It is fastened with 4 bolts.

I re adjusted it twice. The clutch will not engage no matter how it's adjusted.

Put it in gear with clutch pulled in no difference.

The clutch is moving in and out, but doesn't work.

Spins freely.

I used hd formula + primary chain case lube. Wonder if that's making the disc sticky?

I'm at a total loss here. My problems all started when the nut backed off. This thing has really got me aggravated and in hot water with the bundle of cash I just spent on a bike we can't ride..

you can include the first speed at inoperative motorcycle? Included. squeeze the clutch lever. Try with care start the engine. The bike starts to go forward, even though the clutch squeezed? If yes, it means that the clutch discs are not parted. Are disconnected the clutch disc with the pusher. Through cable You come on the pusher.
1. Either the clutch arm does not pulls the cable.
2. Either the cable has no effect on the pusher.
3. Either the pusher is not pushes clutch discs.
4. Either between discs and a pusher that something superfluous.
You have to do more diagnostics.

The clutch system is working. When you pull the lever you can see the pressure plate move out toward the primary about an 1/8" (that's how much travel it has) but the clutch does not engage. I've had it apart and adjusted it several times. All parts are working correctly that engauge the clutch.

Clutch disc are moving in and out, but it won't engage. Gonna pull the clutch back off and soak in Trans fluid again.

If you are sure that the clutch basket is assembled correctly, the springs are installed, the mechanism is adjusted, it can be broken fork that connects a pair of gears when shifting gears in the gearbox?

Can you shift through the gear without the clutch?

Without the bike running of course.

So your problem is in the clutch. The fact that it moves, it does not mean the right job. Disassemble all the clutch discs, remove the spring. CAREFULLY inspect all. Where did the error.

Your bal and ramp bearings popped out?

Last time this happened to me, everything seemed fine with clutch pack, cable etc.....ball and ramp had decided to skip out of alignment.

I went ahead and pulled off the basket again and checked for damage.

Nothing... All looks good. I've found absolutely no broken parts.

I haven't found any worn parts.

I cleaned the main shaft nut put fresh red locktite on it and torqued it down.

On my way to get Trans fluid to soak clutches again.

Checked ball and ramp all is working correctly.

Yes I can shift from 1st through 6th and back down again rocking the bike in every gear, absolutely no noise no binding.

The only thing I can possibly figure is the hd formula plus primary fluid is the culprit.

You can see the alum pressure plate move back and forth approx 1/8"
