Barhopper - it might help especially if you have an aftermarket air cleaner
Surferdude - I already had a G with the plates removed when I bought the bike - if you still have them in you definitely want to remove them and if you are going to get a G carb you will I think need a new intake manifold - either that or you will have to get spacers where the plates are now - as for mileage I don't take too much notice of it but as a guide I took my gas tank off last night and emptied I would guess about 6 litres of fuel after having 85 miles on the clock - I do now have the IST ignition though - as for choice between the E and the G, the E may give you better rideability at lower rpms due to the smaller venturi (although mine is fine with the G) whereas the G will give you more max power because of the larger venturi
