New REAR at 4300 MILES!?!?!?!?!?!

Energy One
I'm on my third rear tire, getting about 7500 miles out of the rear and 10,000 on the front. Running Cobras now so we'll see how goes

Got alot of miles on my original VENOM 17,000 but on the COBRA at 6000 it is wearing pretty fast. Seems alot of guys got good mileage on the older VENOMS. Wish I could get my hands on a VENOM again, seems to wear much better.

I've got 10,000 miles on my original Venoms and they are only half worn to the wear bar. Can a guy still buy the straight Venom or do they only make the replacement Cobra now?

if you find a venom, be sure to check the manufacture date.

it would be old stock.

The Cobra is the only option in the 300 (no more Venoms). I got 7,500 on my original Venom.

Hey, you guys buying tires (rear) and paying a bunch of $$$ need to read Big Dog biker more carefully. I think less than a month ago, I posted the place to buy rear Avon 300 at about $228 and that included shipping.

Absolutely you need to google the tire you want and look at the results. I get pissed off at paying a suckass former Big Dog Dealership a $110 to put a new tire on. (read that as Iron Lightning).
FYI, I didn't see a 330 back tire on the website you could get a 300 for $228. I did manage to get a OEM Venom from Dennis Kirk for a total of $307.99 including a $5 tire surcharge. I am sending in for my $25.00 rebate from Avon which helps. I just checked and it was a match to the original (numbers, etc). I did notice the born on date was 09!

you have to watch this old inventory and I think it's what is causing several of us problems.

These old inventory tires do not last. AIHswank got a Metzler from someone local that was old inventory and it won't even last half as long as his first tire.I think he got 15k out of his last one and this one is done at about 5k

My shop who did my engine warned me about this and said a lot of the cheap internet companies selling tires are selling the old stuff

So do an older stock tire last less or it really doesn't matter how old the tire is. I know there are a lot of older bike out there with low milege and with the original tir eare those bikes more dangereus because do they have an old tire?

I just looked at my 2008 Ridgeback back tire and next to the DOT is a number 3704 which means it was manufactured in the 37th week of 2004. This tire still has over half its tread with 3700 miles. The new tire I purchased from Dennis Kirk has a number 3209 which means it was manufactured in the 32nd week of 2009.

In terms of beer, it is kind of like a born on date but the best by date is up in the air:D

A tire that is outside for 10 years will not be in as good of shape as most our dogs in the garage.:D
