NEW PLUG WIRES AND BERBY COVER MOD

I would also order from their website,

I am going to leave the original clamps because the original black plug wires are fine and will sit in the spare parts box. The new wires are so damn big that I would have to bend them at an angle to line up with the direction of the wire.

Like I mentioned, I only put the tie wrap on to pull the plug wire away from the engine fins. I could probably just cut them off if anyone notices them (which is hard to see).

:DI do like Blonds but my Red Head 5'3" 110 lb 32f, g or h or something rocks my world! She's done blond for me but I can't help but be attracted to the wild side of a Red Head.:2thumbs:

I think the Hooters Blond was like 5'1" with enhancements. She was a doll!

However, I have 2 problems. :bang::bang:

(1) The Dakota (blue) speedometer isn't reading correct mph. When coming to a stop speedo reads 10 mph for a few seconds. When moving speedo seems slower than speed I'm going.

(2) The tach is reading much lower than the motor revs are at. The tach then starts to flash all the lights. After coming to a stop all the lights again begin to flash.

I remove the coil cover and check all the wires underneath the coil cover to see if I somehow loosened them or pulled them out or rubbed them against something to cause an intermittent short.

Everything was good as they have a cable clamp holding them in place. I then check the connectors for the Twisted plug wires and all looks good. I again reassemble the plug wires to the coil making sure I push them all the way in and then onto the plugs. Everything is double and triple checked as I took my time.

I turn the key on and press the on button and the EHC shows the red light coming on as well as a small silver/aluminum box on the left and see a small red light comes on also. All looks good here too.
Again tach is all over the place and speedo is off while moving.

Shut the bike off, remove the coil cover again, remove the Twisted plug wires off and replace with the original plug wires.
Re-assemble everything again start the bike up and all is "normal". Tach is right on, speedometer is right on and all is well. Don't know what is happening with the Twisted plug wires so I call Crowe's and left a message for Mark. Waiting to hear what he says.

Hope no one else have this problem I experienced.

Update: Will be returning these for refund.

The Tach is separate from the Dakota Digital so why are we talking about the two together? Unless 2005 is different! My Twisted Plug Wires work great on a 2008. Maybe you got the wrong color! Did you check the resistance prior to installation? Mine were 33 ohms compared to the original wires of 740 ohms. The originals will not go back in unless a twisted plug wire goes out!

Did you get the right ones? Mine are #TF-7

Nukeranger,
I didn't measure resistance but the Twisted plug wire is #TF-7. I mention the tach and speedo because they are both not working correctly.
Maybe the wrong color....huh?

Yeah,

Wrong color or maybe you need to sell your bike for like $60 which includes the wires!:roll::roll: Let someone else figure it out.:D

I would measure the resistance. Twisted is like 34 ohms while original is 740 ohms. Maybe, something is wrong with one of the wires?
