the b106 does say it can be used for choppers but it also says not recommended for cold climates. might be a viable trade-off ????

Looks like an interesting battery, but I am cautious of the PCA (Pulse Cranking Amp) rating for it is not the same as CCA. As per their web information, when it is converted in may not be giving you that much more if any, except for higher price and possibly less weight.

As per their site

EDO Performance

Here is a good source of Battery FAQ including what CCA is and how it matters for us when starting below idea temps.

Car and Deep Cycle Battery FAQ, Battery Manufacturers and Brand Names List, and

Now as per my O & M, BD uses a 270CCA battery and from my experience, I have had no problems starting it down to 15F on a cold engine. Of course that was with a good battery to begin with and a proper start. Would not say that when you get down that low, that you will get a whole lot of cranks our of it, but then again following the listed starting (two quick twist of throttle, enricher slight open, crank, start, enricher off after a few seconds, and use hand throttle it to to keep it ideling or maybe a little above, till it warms ups) at least this works for me.

Just my 2 cents

As usual Fiber is correct, I called the factory in Florida, these batteries have very high Pulse cranking amps but very low CCA. The appropriate one for our bikes is the B106 which has 527 PCA but only 210CCA. If you lived year round in a warm environment the carbon fiber one would work for you because they are very resistant to vibrations. Not such a good deal for the rest of us.

I bought a Yuasa battery last year, and i believe it is 310CCA. It was recommended by a board member, and it has been great!!
