I am 100% confident you know what wanna be means.
To me a wannabe is the guy in the bar with all leather and harley patches but when you ask him what he rides, not only does he not own a bike but he doesn't know anything about motorcycles in general. I'm sure most of you know exactly the kind of guy I'm talking about.

I believe the poster who took offense to the "wannabe" comment maybe taking it a little to personal. I don't think he was referring necessarily to people on here.

On the other hand I think the comment about the +/- 1,000 miles was a little off the mark as well. I'm sure there are people on here who ride everyday that may not put much more on their bike than that. I personally am a bar hopper and I mostly ride mine around the city I live or the next city over. I don't have to put 10,000 miles on my bike a year to feel like a "real biker". I'm confident in what I am and could really care less if others think different. Yes, I am one of the ones that love to spend time polishing my Big Dog. I don't necessarily do it because I want it to look cool, I do it because it's something I enjoy doing, while drinking beer, listening to the radio, in my man cave, AND it looks cool.

And as far as it being a "fad" and it passing. I could care less about that either way as well. Long after the novelty (if there is one) of the big tire and other things have passed, you can bet your ass I'll still be riding my 2003 Big Dog Chopper.

No offense intended, just my dos centavos.

X2. I've seen comments about "wannabes" and "yuppies" etc. I wonder what qualifications you have to have to be a "real biker"? I guess if I have to ask....

Well I let the 07 K9 go. But I did find a 09 ridgeback with 4200 miles on it with a few aftermarket goodies on it. Found it on ebay. Guy wanted 17500.00 or make offer. I offered 15500.00 and he declined. Well it goes off ebay and just for the hell of it I hit him at 14500.00 and he accepted. Bike nadas for just shy of 19000.00. I know its a hardtail but its my second one so Im not worried about that. What do you guys think??
Its what you think that matters.

If you like the paint job and you like the condition, does it really matter if you pay a thousand or too “too much”? Would you rather buy something cheaper you don’t like as much?
If you are gonna keep the bike for years to come, does a thousand really matter?
how much is the cheaper bike gonna cost, if you paint it to your liking….
Bottom line being, if that bike talks to your heart, buy it. Hell with the “real value"
