If you like the bike, have the $$$, and plan on keeping it, who gives a sh!t? Buy it, ride it, and enjoy it ! If you're thinking $$$, get yourself a Honda 50ccm scooter....

There are always the good-time Charlies who will tell you: "The Army is the place to learn a trade, it can't take more than a couple of monthis to kick their asses in Vietnam...go ahead and enlist! OR: "She seems beautiful, full of fun and a great personality....go ahead and marry her!! but I digress

There will always be guys like us that like to ride choppers. But the TV shows that pretty much made them popular to the public are gone. Its true people don't have the disposable income they once did but Harley baggers and bobbers are the "in thing" now and they seem to be selling just fine. There just isn't the interest in choppers there once was. You only have to look on Ebay and craigslist to see the same choppers for sale month after month (most in the $10-15K range). There is a big difference in the asking price and what these bikes are actually selling for (a lot less than the asking price). Most of the custim chopper shops of a few years ago are gone and the ones that are still around are now doing trike conversions, and custom baggers with the hula hoop front wheel.

All that is fine, I didn't buy my bike as an investment I bought it because I thought it was cool.:2thumbs:

Wanna be's what? so tired of that stupid phrase...
wan·na·be also wan·na·bee (wn-b, wôn-) Informal n.
One who imitates the behavior, customs, or dress of an admired person or group.

Another word for it would be 'poser'.

There are a lot of folks who buy these bikes (and associated clothing) thinking it will make them cool and then get the reality check when they discover it's not such a great thing when you have a nice monthly payment to go along with it. Also, lots of other folks hearing stories about bike wrecks and injuries, having a scare themselves, or pressure from the wife/family leading them to sell. These are the wannabes. Bottom line, it's the people who buy them because they're 'in' when people who are really into bikes buy them whenever they feel the need for a new/used bike and then keep and ride them regardless of what's 'in'.

Wannabes = Swag
Bikers = Passion

NADA option list for my '04 Mastiff :confused:

AM/FM Radio-Cassette w/Speakers
CB Radio
Engine Guards (Chrome)
Cruise Control
Exhaust-High Performance (Street)
Exhaust-High Performance (ATV)
Exhaust-High Performance (Off Road)
Fairing-Full
Fairing-Windshield Only
Lawn Mower (ATV)
Oil Cooler
Power Blades (ATV)
Saddle Bags (Pair)
Security Alarm System
Sleeper Tent Trailer
Snow Blower (ATV)
Travel Trunk w/Rack
Utility Trailer (Standard)
Abs Brakes
Winch (ATV/UTL)

If only the original owner had gotten the winch :bang: might be worth a little more.

BTW - if you read the explanations of the values, they give low and average retail. Low basically means it runs. Average means it is relatively clean with average miles for its age. An immaculate bike with low miles :job: Now it's up to the buyer and seller.

Good luck! :cheers:

I know what it means, just a stupid phrase most that get often describes the person using it.

So by that definition I guess that would be a wide majority of folks on here?!?!

:loony::loony:

Since many of the owners put +/- 1,000 miles a year on these bikes and are a lot more concerned about how much time they spend polishing their bike rather than riding it.

To each their own...

$18k is high. Don't go more than $16k unless you really gotta have that bike. Take a good look at what's out there, these things can be had for a song.

Agree with Moe... they are tons out there and especially this time of year people are looking to dump them. I'm amazed at some of the deals out there. $18k seems way too high.

Air ride system will cost you about $1,500 - $1,700 so I would add that the the blue book number as they probably don't track that as an option.

Generally speaking modifications or any other additions to the bike don't drive up the value. I have $4,500 in extras which I would consider a loss if I ever sell. $16,000 is where you want to be on that bike. It's bad ass but you will come across other Big Dogs equally bad ass if you keep looking. There aren't many that I've seen that I didn't like. Original owners that paid $30k plus have a tough time coming to terms with a significant loss. Not putting the bike down, just being realistic. Good luck.

Man I've been out of biken for about 2 or 3 years. I found a 07 K9 with 2700 miles on it. Guy wanted 21000.00 got him down to 18000.00 thinking I was doing good. NADA is 15500.00. I thought these bikes would go up in value since there not making anymore. What do you guys think?? Does this seem like a fair price or should I try to get him lower?? Its got air ride, aftermarket pegs and grips and bigger cams in it. Just seeing what you guys think. Thanks David
Bought my 07 K9 back in August with 2900 miles for 13K...

Mine is bone stock except the exhaust. With the work done to it...pull the trigger 18 or below IMO

When I bought mine I wanted to be cool but stayed hot the first two years with all the problems I had. Now I'm riding and staying cool and cold:D. Supposed to warm up into the 60's this weekend and I'll be a cool wanna be poser:D. Disclaimer: the old lady has warned me about drinking and typing on week days:rolleyes:it's all good:)

NADA

Bought my Bulldog way over NADA even though similiar bikes were $5K-6K less but I wanted that specific bike, engine, mileage, paint scheme, etc. and did not want to buy something I liked less for less money. The bike is worth what a person will pay for it but may not be worth that much to the next person. If you want a deal, it may not be "THE" bike you want but if the budget does not allow then get it for the best price you can.

I would never sell my dog for less than what I ask for. If its worth 20K to me than that is what I will ask for and if you don't have what I want go fuck someone else mine is still worth want I ask for. nuff said
