Well just got back from Myrtle yesterday and decided I would give a round up of my experience on my 07 K9. We left Northern Jersey Sunday morning 7:00 am. We ended up wearing full leathers and heavy clothes because it was like 50 degrees when we left and the wind was terrible. We took the Cape May Ferry through the Chesapeake Bay bridge where it was raining and the wind was blowing us sideways the whole way to Virginia where we ended up stopping due to the tornado warnings and golf ball size hail they were reporting. Bike got a total drenching during which time we were trapped in a local bar. They did give me a plastic bag to cover my spike aircleaner with though. Two problems arose one my neutral light wouldnt go out until she dried out second was I couldnt downshift without using my foot to lift up slightly on my shift lever. Tried flushing the linkages and heim joints with wd 40 then dry slide to no avail. Problem turned out to be the original shitty heim joints which were promptly replaced by Brad at the Big Dog trailer in North Myrtle. During the next days ride we decided we would travel the outer banks of North Carolina where we continued to deal with horrible winds and much cooler than normal weather. We took the ferry to Hatteras where much to our dismay we ended up riding through salt water flooded roadways at one point and damn near sand storms due the wind everywhere else. We ended or second day early because we were stranded on the middle island when the coast guard cut off ferry service due to the winds. At least we were able to get a hose at the hotel and rinse the saltwater off the bikes. Got shitted because we were stranded and got up early for the first ferry off the island at 7:00 to make the final trip into Myrtle beach where I lost a screw for one of my new switchblade pegs and had to wire it up to keep it from dragging. We had a great time in Myrtle and had much better than expected weather all week. We left Saturday morning at 6:00 am and started our ride home in much better weather than when we left and ended up riding the whole 700 miles in one shot with a break to take the ferry from Delaware into Cape May NJ. Once in NJ I again lost the same bolt in the same footpeg (Kuryakyn gave me a new one in Myrtle) and we finished our trip 8:00 Saturday night where we went promptly to the local bar and got shitted for a ride well done. 1400 Miles roundtrip (Know this is nothing for you Ray) and I give the dog an A+ for how she handled during the whole trip. With the exception of the heim joint trouble she never complained or barked while doing a steady 75-85 mph whenever possible. I would like to recommend a product that literally saved my ass from my gel seat and it is the Roho Airhawk seat pad. You strap it to your seat after slightly filling the rubber bladders with air and the miles just flew by. Never thought I would be able to do 700 miles in one day on the chopper but this setup proved me wrong and I could easily have done another couple of hundred miles if necessary. Overall lots of boozing and riding and I cant wait to do it again. Out of the four of us who went I was the only BD rider two rode softail customs and one rode a new dresser but I sure saw a lot of them down there so it appears we were well represnted as a group.
