Nice try----I heard those extra layers of chrome add enough weight to put you guys in the rear view mirrors. Polished aluminum=gofast..Hahaha
Did Vikings come with the chrome wheels?

I'm actually surprised they had a chrome vs non chrome package on the baggers to be honest.

I'm not sure, but will ask Matt when next we speak. Obviously a lot of them did.

OK--I just got back from a walkabout I like tondo a couple of times a year. I go from KS to Indianapolis, to Gary, IN, to Chicago mad then back home. Blacktopper and Eric and Curtis and I all went the Mojave desert and Death Valley earlier this year too.
Point being that I started this thread in December with a brand new Bagger with 29 miles on it...below s a photo I took a few minutes ago. I left Chicago this morning HD pulled in my garage at about 7:30 or 8:00 this evening.
Now it's well on the way to being a high mileage Bagger!

Thanks, Greg. I do enjoy the Bagger. It is a kilt shorter than the K9 and has a significantly shorter rake/trail, so it's quite a bit more stable for touring. The faring really helps knock out wind, I have left it bone stock, with the only issue was a rebuild of the fuel pump because I didn't like how it sounded. Routine 46-50 mpg on the road, mostly 75-80 mph.
One time I had to warm (3 min./hairdryer) the ECH to start it, so I'll need replace it sooner or later, but that's a drop in the bucket compared to my K9, which remains my favorite.
The 111 valves are noisy as the dickens, and I plan to try petroleum oil (maybe with a shot of Lucas additive) this oil change to see if that helps.

Thanks to Frank, Ker, and Eric for the comments. Frank, I can imagine your sinking feeling when that paint bubbled and you realized you were screwed despite your efforts and plans. Please keep them coming--I'm pretty optimistic about being able to ultimately resolve the issue, just a matter of deciding what direction to take:
1. DIY---spend several days at it with maybe a 50% possibility of having to repaint the tank. The good thing is that it's a solid color. View attachment 38477 Then choose to re-line the tank or not.
2. Send it to FL or CA and have it professionally redone-- cost of $350-500.
Basically it looks like a wash to me, so I will most probably look at sending it to a professional.
And certainly Frank is absolutely correct to fault the dipshits who were responsible for the poor quality of liners used during the entire life of the company. That contractor must have been married to a Coleman....

Congrats on the new bike Rick!!
