Motor smoking.

Have an 05 mastiff that when in the throttle hard after bike is warmed up it let's out big puffs of whitish blue smoke. Seems to be running fine no loss in power. Doesn't do it all the time. It has tp rockers. In thinking possibly valve guides. Not sure. Had 4 thousand miles on it.

So now if it going to shop I have plans of beefing her up. Mill head. Bigger cam. What is a good setup. Bigger carb possibly. Looking for a good setup that makes big power yet on pump fuel

Bike is all stock except big radius pipes and bct baffles.

I got mine used with 3k on it, it wasn’t broke in yet. Did you get it new? If so how do you ride? Mine got better after I rode the shit out of it for a couple K’s…
PS Blue is OIL!!!!! Black Is GAS!

I ride pretty hard. I'm a believer in breaking anything in hard. I got with 2k. Oh its also seems to be coming from the front cylinder bottom pipe. Might be a vacuum problem also but not sure. I'm Kind stumped to be honest. Compression is perfect.

Kinda curious as to what the manual says. 2000 miles on it when I purchased it. 4500 miles on it now. What's break in suppose o be. I figured it was probably around 1500!

Dump the TP's and go back with all S&S. Mine did the same thing, most on deceleration. The valve guides were shot to hell in one cylinder. Don't keep taking a chance and riding it like that. You could end up with a piece of valve guide breaking off and making it's way through your motor. Could cause some major damage!!!!!!! If you know it's coming from the front cylinder, then you know where to start looking. Pull the rocker box and head, then remove the springs and you'll be able to inspect the valve guides. I would also keep on eye on Ebay or others to find a set of S&S rocker boxes and S&S roller rockers.

is your air cleaner saturated with oil? if it is, its your rear cyl spitting oil in thru the vent line. Fix is to change to the reed valve breather in the cam chest.

I did have some oil on air cleaner as well. I notice that there's a hose that hooks to the air cleaner of the rear cylinder. But why would it be dumping smoke out of the front cylinder. The the font spark plug looks darker than the back one as well. I'm still leaning towards valve guides.

I'm thinking of zeroing the deck. woods 650 cam. S&s rockers. What valves and how much should I shave the head. Also which carb? I have super E. I want this to still run off pump gas just with more ponys. Gonna get a d&m Spike air cleaner as well.. Want feed back on a good setup that makes 125 plus hp on pump gas

loudmastiff,
That hose going to the back of the air cleaner has a one way valve in it that lets the crankcase breathe. I would start there and replace the one way valve first. They are cheap and easy to replace. Also if you have to much oil in the tank that can also cause oil on the air cleaner. If this doesn't fix it then pull the pipes and inspect the valves through the exhaust ports. Should see significant build up if the valve guides bad.

Now I am a big advocate for dumping the TP rocker boxes and going full S&S. Also on the 05's they put smaller valves in there and intake restrictors trying to meet Calif. emissions so they could sell the bikes there. Zero decking bumping up the compressoin is a big plus also. From what I understand about the E & G carbs is the E will give you better low end torque while the G will give you better mid and top end torque but I am not a tuner its just what I have read. Hope this helps.

First thing I would ask you before you start tearing it all down is how much oil are you burning? Second would be how far out is your accelerator pump set at?
