Not sure what you mean by hard starting. Slow crank ? Did it run well after start? If your battery is not charging properly and the voltage is low ( under 12.8) you could get the symptom your describing. Your ignition system needs proper voltage to operate correctly. Clean and tighten your battery connections.
Any chance your problems started shortly after getting gas?

Well it would start but only run for 30 seconds, it would do this3 to 4times and then it would run fine the rest of the day. Kept getting worse each day then on the fourth day it would not start just kept popping out the carb and the exhaust.

If your satisfied that the battery and connections are all good start checking your fuel supply. What bike do you have? Disconnect the fuel line and make sure it flows. If it has a carburetor drop the bowl and make sure it's clean inside like 1 B.M.F suggested. Check the float for smooth operation and that it comes on when dropped down and shuts off when raised. If you see no issue at this point pull the jets and make sure they are clean ( no clogs). If your fuel injected someone else will know what you should check. Maybe fuel pump or filters I'm not familiar with how to check out a fuel inj system.

If you find it's not the fuel system, or ignition, I would take a compression test. Actually a compression test should always be done during a yearly maintenance service.

If its a carb model, replace the black rubber/silicon caps on the carb. They will dry rot, crack and suck air making the bike run shitty. Jmo.
