I have an 04 Ridgeback 107 w/compression releases, I replaced the EHC years ago and have had no issues.
I replaced the starter a few months ago with a 2.0 kw unit and all was good until a few weeks ago.
I have replaced the battery cables, cleaned and tightened all grounds, cleaned the solenoid, replaced the battery with a 310 CCA unit.
Here's what happens:
Hit the starter and the solenoid goes into machine gun mode, sometimes the plunger will stay in and the engine turns a few revolutions slowly but not fast enough to produce a good spark to fire the bike. The voltage drops from 12.9v to below 5 and the positive battery cable becomes untouchable hot instantly.
Hit the slam and same issue occurs, maybe turns over a couple of times.
I'm thinking the starter is maybe out of alignment/binding causing a huge power drain which would create the hot cable.
I have tried 3 separate batteries that are all good and the same thing happens each time.
New starter?
Any ideas?
