could be that the set screws fell out and the ring is held in place by rust. good luck on gettin' that one out. try several different small sizes of allen wrench in the holes to see if one fits (not sure what size the set screw is), try putting on some rubber gloves and rotating it counter-clockwise. some have put duct-tape on their fingertips for grip. may need to use some penetrating oil around the ring.

You may be right! I have the same thing going on. pulled out the light ck. for volts, 0 volts hi or lo. I just cut the yellow wire out at the ECH plug and spliced it into the license plate light right next to the ECH Turn on key light come working great till I can do wirepius.

My 04 Ridgeback started with that issue then vise versa with only hi beam. Now I have no headlight. I found out last week its my EHC. My signals, brake lights and speedo still work though. My mechanic is tryin to figure out a way to wire my headlight from my ignition or another source but also so both my hi and lo beam can still function. Look up some recent threads about headlight problems. Good luck!

I wish I had more money.
You can get the bulbs anywhere. Walmart any auto store. Anywhere that caries auto parts.

Sorry to hijack the thread but I kind of have the same problem. My low beam works sometimes. Hi beam always works. Any input?

drbalazo,

It could be the bulb SOCKET inside the headlight bucket. Sometimes these connectors OVERHEAT and melt which then cause a poor connection to the bulb. If this is the case, there is a ceramic high temp socket available on the web.

You might try disconnecting the battery then the two EHC harness connectors, clean out any old dielectric grease in the connections...reapply and fill MALE (pin side) connectors with new dielectric grease and reconnect the two EHC harness connectors.

This may help the contact connection to the low beam wire.

Another round please
I rode 150 miles, never stopped. The bike started puttering and died. :bang: What could be the most likely problem ?:roll::roll::roll:. I just feel like being a dick today. I so need a vacation.

Swap your EHC...that'll fix anything.
