Loose front brake rotor

Being that the front brake rotor is a floating type, I would expect it to move a bit. However, mine seems to be excessively loose, as I can easily wiggle it around with my hand... both side to side and up and down.

I Googled this and it appears that in general people say it's normal, but I could have sworn I read somewhere a while ago that even though it is a floating rotor, it should be pretty "tight".

Does anyone here know what's normal with these brake rotors?

My dealer replaced the pins (or buttons... whatever you call them) a while ago, and if they end up needing replacing again, I will probably just replace the damn thing with a non-floating style as I am not about to shell out $100 again for those stupid pins.

Thanks in advance.

I may be wrong but one of them needs to move so if you nix the floating rotor...the caliper needs to float on pins...just a thought

They only replaced the rotor pins on one rotor... not sure which one though. The rear rotor is VERY tight, and cannot be moved by hand.

Don't know about the tension springs. Will need to run down to the bike and take a looksee.

I don't think PM will recommend changing the pins on the floating rotors even though they sell them. I had the same problem once when I forgot my lock. Called em and after talking with them i decided to buy new floating rotors. I had to buy em from BDM because PM won't sell em as they are propriotary.

I wish I had more money.
Mine are pretty loose. They rattle when I hit bumps and stuff. I've never complained but I would like to think that the guys at the dealer would tell me if they thought that it needed some attention.
