OK, so I may have cheated. Prepped a 2013 BS and it lasted till 2021. Took the same BS battery but this time I just wet it and no prep. Had a 9yr BS with a prep. So I bought this style charger. I turn the key on, it read 12.4v. I plugged it in and it automatically found the BS style, ran its cycle. Now I turn the key on after a ride, I see 12.8v
If I couldn't prep a lith out of the box, I'd plug it in with this charger. If Jay runs a shit load of cars and bikes with this charger as a field test, cough, you'd be wasting your money picking out a universal (recovery mode) car/bike charger that does it all. Thought I could recover the 13 battery [is why I bought it], but the red light stayed on for hours so no recovery like I imagined; but if the battery is still in service, has low points, this will bring the points back up. Sold me. 100 bucks online.
Like I was saying, if I buy a lith and I could not prep it, I'd attempt it with this charger. By that I mean, I will drain the battery down to 1-2v and recover it with this charger. That's 3x's down that low a volt, then on the 3rd charge you install it. If it was a BS like I've done to the last 3 batteries, I let the acid sit for an hour before the first charge; then the 3x's, then install the battery.
Wet and install is a few years at the most. Wet/Prep-3x, maybe 7yrs or more with a BS (battery acid supplied) I can bet on. And I will bet a chelada is why the batteries around here are wet and installed, not prepped like the battery manu's do to test how their competitors pan out is this prep process.
