Anyone ever hook up led lights with an independent power source? My concern is draining the battery when lights are on while parked.

Also, wire it directly to your battery. Don't splice into your wiring. And don't use neon.

I would still be concerned if I went in to watch a football game at a sports bar and left them on 3-4 hours

You might be surprised. Put it on a volt meter and have a few beers and let it run all day.
Otherwise sure, if you can find a place for a small battery that would certainly work too.

The frequency they give off will mess with your ignition system
I have a LED kit on my bike and I have close to 100 actual LED bulbs so to speak. And I can usually leave mine on for over 4 hours before I notice my battery getting weak enough to affect cranking the bike. My LED kit also has a controller that is Bluetooth to my phone so I can control my LED's from it. And the controller also acts as a GPS tracker too, so mine is pulling a little more power than just wiring up LED's with a controller that just switches colors or uses a keyfob to do so. And my motor has been built up too. So my kit on regular motor, 6 to 8 hours.

I think I know why your thinking it won't work but with some time and a little engineering you can make the Generation 2 kits work great. But the 06 Mastiff has what they called the Generation 1 lights on it the difference between generation 1 and generation 2 lights are the way they connect the connectors are different. The pods (generation 1) are located one on each side of front rim with the wire between them being ran under the fender and covered with rtd sealent, where the fender bolts are on that lip facing down, on each side of the rear swing arm belt side has 5 pods and brake side has 4, there are 2 under the coil cover one on front tire side and one on rear cylinder side, 2 under the spacers for the aftermarket air breather cover one on front cylinder side one on rear cylinder side. The strips which generation 1 came I think in 10 inches. They are 5 under the bike on the frame 2 on each side and one across the rear in front of rear tire, 2 under electrical box, 4 under the gas tank The Bagger has the generation 2 lights on it.

I went ahead and bought a kit with 10,4 inch strips placed one under gas, one under triple tree, 2 on the bottom, one each side of rear wheel, one under the back side of the license plate holder and one inside the engine between seat and back of the motor, on in front of the motor by the split tubes. Came out nice just don’t like that it want phone activated as I don’t know what to do with this remote know.. lol
Looks good. If you need help getting some light on that front wheel let me know. But if youd like to see the video of my bagger text me and ill send it to you. I was trying to upload it on here but it wouldnt let me download an mp4 video on here. But here are a few pictures of the mastiff.
The last picture was after the bike had been recovered from being stolen. After i had it completely rebuilt and a 23 in front wheel put on. The pictures in the garage was the night i was installing the LED kit. And the other pictures were from before it was stolen. All the pictures were taken from my samsung phone.

the front wheel was the most challenging I didn’t feel comfortable putting anything under the fender wasn’t a lot of room so the under tripe tree is as far a I went toward the front wheel

I made my own flat wires and plugs to go under the fenders. And believe it or not it has more room than you think at the highest point of the fender.
