Has anyone used an LED 8000k Bulb or HID kit on a 07 BIG Dog K9. Want to upgrade to one of these for brighter night time riding.

Sunpie on Amazon is hard to beat. Price AND lighting are great.

I've used both HID and a number of LED's over the years.

My Original HID with the reflector I had was the best light I ever had on a bike.
Went to LED after that -- Good but not the same.
Tried another HID -- slightly better than the LED I had been using but did not last even a year.
Went back to LED
Went to the Sunpie Daymaker clone -- very good.
After accident light worked but things were rattling around inside so I replaced it with a light like this one https://www.ebay.com/itm/3328453635...%3D|ampid:PL_CLK|clp:2047675&epid=17024931440
Does pretty good but my night vision isn't what it used to be so I try to avoid any serious night riding anymore.

I personally prefer the 6000K lights (whiter) 8000K is into the blueish tint.

The other issue you need to concern yourself with is, which EHC you have. The stock unit will not work with most HID units. The HOD draws less power and the EHC trips over this and thinks the bulb is out and switches to high beam. Some have had it even flip-flop between low and high from reports I heard.

Did you have to add a resistor or is it plug in play?

Well by the time I went LED I had already replaced the original EHC. I know the HID had a load resistor. I don't think most LEDs require one with the original but I can't say for certain. I know the first LED unit on my 2nd 08K-9 worked out of the box with original EHC.
