Many of you know that I've had nothing but problems with my BDM PDM system since I've installed it. Well Matt and Jason at Kansas Motorcyle Works Kansas Motorcycle Works have hooked me up with their new EHC R.I.P replacement system and I can tell you it is way smaller and sleeker than the PDM. Plus it maintains your canceling taillights unlike the PDM. I can't wait to get to it so will do a complete "How-To" installation by the weekend.
Matt and Jason came over from BDM after they folded and many of you may have met them at Sturgis and Daytona and other events.
I have been stuck at 95,000 miles on my Chopper and been trying to get to that 100,000 mile mark so maybe this year. I have to get it going prior to the Redwood Run in June.
But I had hernia surgery a couple days ago so can't move around much now. But should get this in by the weekend and test ride the bike.
KMW's are the ones that are building the BD style bikes and selling them in Europe right now and introducing them here in the US soon. They look great too.

Anyway I just want to thank Matt and Jason at KMW for hooking me up and I'll get this done soon when I start feeling better.

In the meantime I have a great nurse taking care of me.

Glad to hook you up bro. Cant wait to see your "How To" and get you over 100k miles. BTW with a nurse that looks like that I would find a way to stay "hurt" or "sick" 24 hours a day, 7 days a week!

Thanks for the kind words Ray. Glad we could help and hope you have a speedy recovery from your surgery. I've gone through one of those myself and they are no fun. I'm also interested to hear your input on the install. Let us know if you need help.

For anybody else interested, here is a link with more info about the kit Ray is installing:
EHC R.I.P. Kit (EHC Replacement Harness) - Kansas Motorcycle Works
Can we ask some history on this? Why was this not rolled out instead of the PDM? This thing seems like a no-brainer - I actually bought all the harnesses to try and design a plug and play into the stock harness just never got the time. I dont have the electical engineering background but was going to use the WP as the base module and wire it into the 50p harness on my 04.

Whats the reprucssions of going with the PDM first? Do you need to re-run the backbone harness?

What about for the guys that went WP, when those modules fail will it be easy to use the new module? Just want to ask some questions and get them out of the way.

Ray, you have been stuck on 95k for about 1.5 years, you need to get up and going back to your cross country trips. Florida to Cali!

If you went with the PDM first then you would need to run the new backbone harness provided with our R.I.P. kit. Also due to the size of the PDM system if it required a new battery tray installation then it would be best with the R.I.P. kit to reinstall the original battery tray. That is what Ray is going to do. The R.I.P. kit picks up the existing, original EHC mounting holes and doesn't require any battery tray area modification.

For a conversion from the Wire's Plus system we would ask the person do a phone order so we can provide a kit that would be suited to the configuration their bike is. That kit would come with splices already attached to the R.I.P. harness and a wire color instruction sheet on what to splice into the forward and aft harnesses. Since those kits are unique to each bike those would be built to suit each customer and would be a next day ship instead of the same day ship for the standard kits.

Hope that helps.

Still trying to get to this guys, heria is killing me right now and prevents me from bending over. First thing I will do is pull the PDM system and take a comparison picture for all of you. This thing is so much smaller and not so bulky.

Contact Jason or Matt if you have further questions

What about the efi bikes, 07 Bulldog to be more specific. Also, what is the warranty with the new units.
The EHC R.I.P kits will work on all of the bikes including EFI models. The kits are backed by a 1-year warranty for manufacturing defects.

Hi Th3InfamousI,

I was not involved in the development of the PDM kit during my time at Big Dog or BDM. Therefore, I don't know what options were available when BDM chose the direction of the PDM kit. Our kit "The EHC RIP kit" is simply a modified version of the stock harness we use in the Kansas Motorcycle Works production bikes that have been on the road in Europe for a couple years now without any failures. As for the other questions, I think Jason "ohmster" answered them in a previous post. The basic thing to know about these kits is we can make them work on ANY big dog but we will just make a custom one for the guys that have previously installed other aftermarket EHC replacement kits/options. If you have any questions regarding your application or anything Big Dog, the best way to reach me is my e-mail: Matt@kansasmotorcycleworks.com.
