05, Gas,
Is this the best stand? I am with Gas the stock one is a true POS!! I dont need anything fancy though. I took mine apart and dug out some shims from when I was a wrench and tweaked it but it's still a weak POS and if my Dog falls over I am gona funkin freak. Like when my Sabre fell over while my wife was laying on her back during a photo freak....uhhh ooops...shit.....I cried like a baby:(

I'm not all that. It was Alhall he's the parts guru. I just post more... :2thumbs:

Anyway... as I posted before... it should be 8" from center of pivit bolt to floor end of the kickstand.

The Rad is suppose to be that... as quoted here

Looks like its the Rad II
Arlen Ness
84-89 FXST/ basically it a rear softail mount.

As you can see here i dont have the rad-2 from arlen ness.I cut down the leg apox 1 1/2 in from stock to end up with the lean that i wanted.I used a 3/4x20 thread die.or you can 20x20 metic die they are only a half degree off on thread pitch.I ended up with 7 1/2 from center of pivot bolt to the center of the end of kick stand.I like it.Plus i can go up or down with the leg. 05CHOP

Well I don't have anything but the RadII in the package to show. But its the correct 8" length from bottom of the foot to the center of the pivit bolt.

Got the Rad II kickstand on and leaned over... It doesn't sit flat but neither did the BDM one... so that's fine I think

Got a pic of the kickstand on the ground... doesn't sit flat but I think it will be ok. Could shave it flat but for now its fine. Who cares if it leaves some marks... its SOLID as hell. None of that BDM wobble crap. Plus the BDM one never sat flat either!

Chris,

Did the mounting holes on the kick stand directly match the holes in your bike, or did you have to mod something a bit to get it to fit?

Straight bolt on!

You can see I re-used the spacer that BDM had... it makes the bike not lean over as much... could remove it and the bike would lean over some increased amount that I won't figure out cause I hate geometry...

I picked up an '03 Chopper and have found that the kickstand, when up, goes under the open primary and I can't put it back down with my foot.

It has been suggested that I get a rear mount kickstand. Well you can see that the outer piec of the open primary extends over and that is unreachable.

Any suggestions?
