I have seen quite a bit on these threads about key switch. is there a better one out there that looks like it should be there? LOL i have put a lanyard on mine but when you turn it doesn't feel like it clicks in solid. would that be a good indication that i should be thinking of replacing it and is the newer 5T one big dog has any better?
I had a marine key switch installed under the seat on the sidecover. Acts exactly like a car ignition.

Mine looked exactly like yours did. It started causing problems. This might be your problem.

Any recommendations for a replacement?
Find a local shop that does alternator/starter repair. These shops can be tough to find nowdays. They should be able to fix ya up. I was lucky, there was a crazy Russian 2 doors down from the OG factory. He was their go-to guy. Took the starter in and he knew exactly where his replacement parts were. I sure dont know how. The place was a total pigstye. Wish he was still around.

Back in the day most towns had a alternator/starter repair shop. Sadly these disappeared long ago with many other shops like this. Sadly we live in a throw away society now. Things are made so cheaply is easier and cheaper to just buy a new one. I miss the old days. I remember my grandparents having a microwave from the 50’s that was still running strong in the 90’s. And a ceiling fan that was the same. Hell it’s probably still going strong today. Those were the good days when people made things to last.
