If I lived in Lowell Arkansas and owned a Mastiff I would go with Karata and not a Baker

I agree - If you are going belt drive drive you are going for looks over function anyways so Karata wins hands down....Just wish to see that they could meet the demand when needed on distributing them to the people who are willing to pay for them.

Ha ha Al, payback for the Walmart thread comments huh:lol: go ahead and admit to it ,you turned down that cheap karata that guy was trying to give a way for the same reasons as the rest of us that day.

Why would you sacrifice function for looks? Why not go with both? Baker gives a great look and hands down, the most reliable out there. Plus, less $$ than Karata. I don't work for Baker, and not making money off saying this...just telling the facts

I just went with the baker over karata due to talking to karata on the phone after many attempts to reach him but always got no answer and recorded messages. but one day he answered and he told me to e-mail him with what i want and he will contact me when my number comes up (whatever that means). that prompted me to ask if he has one on the shelf ready to go or he would make one after i ordered/paid for one. jim advised he had ones on the shelf ready to go. i was ready to place the order that day on the phone with him but did what he told me to do. i waited two weeks and then attempted to call once more but got an answering machine. after leaving a thorough message that i was ready to purchase i still did not hear anything back and still haven't. i did not like the wimpy wimpy wimpy belt of the baker compared to the hefty hefty hefty belt of the karata but gave up on the karata. i even called baker and spoke with someone on the first ring of the phone. i asked if there will ever be a wider belt drive for the big dog and was told no. after speaking with baker i thought about what would happen if i ever needed parts for the karata belt drive if i chose to go with his. i figured it would be a strike out after not being able to even make the initial purchase for a karata. that did not sit well with me. what did sit well with me was how i got through to baker on my first attempt to contact them for info. i will get used to the thinner belt over time but will be loving the reliability of the baker the most although i wish the belt was wider. after seeing the baker drive in person i noticed the belt width isn't all that bad.

I have a Karata and have no problems with it! Had some studs on the Parana clutch snap... Parts are easily ordered and received from Karata.

thats good to hear. maybe he is preoccupied with other things and i have bad timing or whatever. he was cool on the phone when i talked to him too. we discussed a 3 inch vs. a 4 inch for my ridgeback in depth.

You can find a video on Youtube with a Baker drive belt running only 1/2" wide, and doing a burnout with the bike. Belt technology today is very very strong. No need for a 4" belt.
I agree also on the customer service. Baker is always there to answer your calls and questions. :2thumbs:

im aware of how strong the baker unit is but i like the look of a wide belt to compliment the 300 tire. i just think if baker went wider it would look so much better. im also loving the dog bone shaped support cover on the baker.

If Baker had a 4" belt I would already have one..I also called Karata and they were going to put me on a list also..

I have a 4" karata on the pitbull, I love the primary and the clutch pack. I wish I would have went with the 2 1/2 or 3" on the bike only because of how short the pitbull is it looks like a giant treadmill. Unfortunately there are not many options for the 04 and earlier LSD bikes.
