Karata 3" on 2006 K9

Any update on the 4" install or pics?

I am heading up to Fullhouse Cycles today to get my 4" installed. I will take pics this afternoon when I get her home. It is going to be cold, but today is the only day in the near future that doesn't call for rain or snow.

Here are some pics (I hope) of the 4" Karata. I gotta say I didn't really notice any significant "whining". But then again, my pipes might be too loud. When riding my left heel is about 1" away from the edge of the front pulley, but no risk of it hitting. Pants might be an issue. I will feel better if I pin the extra material up so it doesn't get caught in the teeth. It is quite a sight looking down and seeing that belt spinning. I hear some whining when I pull in the clutch as the belt slows down. I tried having my son take some video but all I could hear was the exhaust.

I am kinda surprised you did not use an OBS with a 4". I was told that if you go with the 4" is is highly reccomended to use one?

Jim at Karata said it wasn't necessary and can be added later if wanted.

What I've been wondering reading this is the difference in weight and balance of the scoot and the difference in power delivery vs stock and between the different belt sizes?

Power delivery is smoother and there is really no difference the extra weight makes, that I can tell in riding the scoot.

I'm sorry but I want to be sure of what I'm looking at here. Your post says 4" but the pics are tagged at 3". Which is it? Thanks

I have installed a 3" kit on my scoot. That was the original post. Others have posted pics of thier 4" kits. Not too much difference. Just a little bigger.
