The RIP kit looks like it will "FREE UP" some room... Thats cool.. Are they selling these now? I have a PDM kit as well... I`ll throw a train horn in there now LOL!!!
Yes Steve, they are a simple system and more streamlined. I'm still installing mine doing a little bit a day.
At least with this system I will be able to get my side (battery) covers on cause it doesn't interfere with them. It just comes out of the backbone and attaches to the top.

Plus I pulled my front tire so I can replace it. Have to have this all going by end of month for the Redwood Run coming up first week of June!!!

Thats awesome. Finally a wire system that will work. The PDM has been working but like you said the side covers will fit better....

Just updated my first post with additional pictures of the install. I know its taking me a long time but I am still on restriction from my surgery so a little bit every day. Almost done now though.
Hope this helps out for others that want to do this.

Is there an estimate on how long this project would normally take if someone did the work straight thru?

It depends on many factors....

Who you have around...

How much Alcohol is involved...

State of Mind...

Etc, Etc....

Bottom line is (if you are really onto it) 1 hr. :2thumbs:

I would say between 4 - 6 hours for someone whose been in and out around their scoots. I would estimate 8 hours max for someone who would consider themselves as not mechanically inclined. It's very easy to do!

I would think someone could do it in 4 hrs just like it took me in OKC to put in my PDM. Just taking me some time now cause I just do a little bit everyday and also that I don't have the original mounting hardware for the first battery box so have to make some mods to it.
It's easy to do. I also have other things I'm doing to the bike like replacing the front tire, fixing the speedo bracket that broke (thanks to Curtis) and doing the hyd clutch unit that was leaking badly.
Today my groin is aching real bad so not sure if I will get much done.

It's almost done now though!

So.... it is not a "Plug & Play" as it has been portrayed? It took me 20 mins to do the TH Ignition Module... that was a true Plug & Play!

sounds to me like you are in much better shape if you still have the EHC and have not done any previous cutting on the system.

The KMW RIP kit is plug and play. Provided you haven't gone in and mucked around with things and changed connectors to Deutsch and e.t.c. and e.t.c. and e.t.c.
But since you do have to remove the side covers, gas tank and remove the existing two BD harnesses it is definitely not going to be as easy as say....oh I don't know....the Thunderheart Ignition module upgraded........:roll::roll::roll::roll:

4 hours is the estimated time for your "do it yourself" guys. Dealerships have been reporting back 2 to 3 hours of install time. It absolutely is a "plug and play" system unless modified as Curtis stated.

Yeah, I've done a lot of mods to my bike. One was the Thunderheart adj ignition. Who would imagine that the stock thunderheart and the Adj one have different bolt patterns? Another is some of the Deutsch connectors, the fuse link block needs to be relocated again cause they are in different locations with the two boxes. The bolt sizes on the original battery box and the PDM on are different on the front cause one is top mounted and the other is mounted below.
Plus I lost all my original mounting hardware for the original box so improvising.
Oh, I had so much shrink tubing on all the wires and that took me some time to strip off. So I'm just going slow doing it right and trying not to overload my hernia for a couple more weeks.
But it is just plug and play, all the wire connectors are the same as the EHC and wire colors match so no worries guys and gals.
Promised Susan I would have it done this weekend so I will., she really wants to ride again!!!! More pics to follow as I finish it.
Thanks all

I'm trying to get the electrical system up the backbone but I have an issue with my gf bothering me.
See the Vid in the Alley section if you want.

Was 90 degrees here today so Susan was tanning and I WAS trying to get my bike done.

Happy Easter everyone
