I have a 2007 K9 it Started and ran fine last ride. Now when I hit the starter button it engages for about 1 second then trips some kind of error and 4way flashers. have to turn it off to re set it. Not sure where to start looking.

Not likely but rock your bike back and forth in gear to make sure its not locked up.
If your cylinders move freely your starter could be locking up. There is a nylon cage with roller bearings inside the housing that can fail. When it locks up it would be a heavy draw on the battery for as long as you held the start button.

OOPS , just read the complete thread glad you got it fixed. Not sure of the brand you bought but if it's not a DEKA ETX20L see if the store will give you a credit towards an exchange. Also, if you don't have a fuse/CB between the battery and EHC you should definitely install one to protect the EHC from a shorting battery. Stock bike did not come with that protection. The CB in the bike is to protect the battery itself from a short or overcharge from the VR. Good time to check how much your VR is putting out while the bike is running. Should not be over 14.6 vdc.
