I don't like the looks of bags on a K-9. I'm thinking about buying a HD Ultra Classic for my longer road trips where bags are nice. I'll keep my K-9 sleek and cool!!!!!!!!!!

I can understand the utility of the bags, but I don't think I could put them on my bike. I did my my K9 for the cool factor, otherwise I'd still be riding my Softail with wind shield and bags.

Hire a hooker to ride on the back and hold your shit. She will look better and take care of all your stuff for sure...Now that is what I call baggage...:D

Just got an email back from Dan @ Big Dog, and he said they anticipate late June for the bags to be available.

They shouldn't, haven't tried yet. Still in prototype (plugs) stage. But I raised them + 1" above the diagonal line from center of the rear tire that's created when using the V&H Big Radius 2 into 2, that "DO" drag on RH Turns. So hopefully the bags won't drag here, but if they do, it'll be part of the spikes on the frame and not the actual bag itself. These Spike tips can be replaced easily.
Yea, if you move them out horizontally, you could go out far enough to cross the diagonal line of dragging during turning. You're exactly right.
Hope this helps.

I like the look of the bags, especially the hard bags. As long as you can take them of fairly easily I would get them. I know I could have used the storage on the longer rides.

Slam, 3 bolts to remove and replace, plus tag mount and wiring of the tag and tail lights. One problem though."Get Them"? Sorry Brother, I haven't made any of them yet. :D

I've been working on some prototypes for some time now, for me. Not anywhere near finished. I've been requested by a few people to custom produce in small quantities. Still thinking about it. If so: Planning on "plain" versions(No Design), Custom Designs ? , Carbon Fiber covered: Natural:("Charcoal") and Colored:(Color match determined by customer) Raw:F-glass (You cover), Gel cote: Paint grade (You Paint to match) Frame Rail: Chrome w or w/o small spikes. Tag Mount:"Recessed" (Re-use existing) Rear Lights: "Half-Recessed" (Re-use existing") Lockable, Weather Tight
Let's see if I can upload these pics. ( Pictured are just the "Plugs" used to make the actual molds later on) Let me know what you think  or  I'm very curious as to others thoughts. Sorry, Don't mean to steel the thread, but stupid (me) can't figure out how to move it! Sorry LDO, I must be to stupid to figure out how to post them resized larger!

Dead One,

If you do get to making these I would buy a set for sure! Those look great! Good Job... Keep me posted.

I've been waiting for months---I was told by my dealer, MAYBE late May. I'm still waiting. They have them shown on BDM, but still no word:job:

Not a huge fan Of the leather ones but cheaper then buying a second bike for trips. I think it is great for those times but I couldn't leave them on their to just roll around.

Well, when I first saw these I was instantly mailing people at Big Dog going - "when are these going to be real?"

After a lot of mail back and forth and several revisions of the web site, they're real. REAL EXPENSIVE

$1499 plus installation!

Not Lockable
Not Quick Release
Not almost 1.5 CU ft (22x11X8 = 1.12cu ft) and that's if they were SQUARED not slanted! and a cut out for the Light.

---

As a result of my disappointment in these, I've contacted Easy Brackets/Great Bike Gear to see if they'll make a bracket for the Easy Brackets like for the HD Duece (not bolts protruding thru strut.)
Great Bike Gear - Motorcycle Accessories, Leather Saddlebags and more
If you'd like to see more options for us Big Dog riders and you want bags, I'd encourage you to also contact them and express and interest in them making a version for us.

I don't usually do this, but I need to vent.I got one of the first set of bags. I got to use them for a couple of days, and then found a bit of a design problem. The right side bag has a clearance problem-it won't clear the swingarm. There is plenty of clearance on the left side-and they used the same amount on the right side. My dealer and I took several pics, and told the factory what was needed to correct it. They had me send the bags back-after a couple of months waiting-with very little update info, they send me a "new and improved" set. They did correct a few minor problems, but did nothing about the clearance problem. In fact, now it's worse. They added a row of rivets across the bottom inside of the bags-now they hit/rub even more. Plus, now I have the rivets rubbing against the swingarm. The dealer contacted R&D to find out what they wanted to try next-I have waited a couple of days waiting for there response-I even offered to take my bike and the bags back to the factory so they could see just what I was talking about. So, today I called the factory-and all I get is some damn recording telling me of there business hours. I tried several times to reach someone(calling during business hours) and never got anyone or to even leave a voice mail. I guess I'm just a dumb ass biker who doesn't know shit about how to fix anything....not counting what I had to pay for the bags-this kind of service is just plain stupid.. I like the bags, and they will come in very handy on my road trips, but the way they are now-they are useless unless I want to cause damage to my bike-which by the way, would probably be on me to fix....I love my bike and have always supported Big Dog, but the kind of treatment that I'm getting right now with this problem just plain sucks-and that's what has me pissed. I guess it will be up to me to correct my bags myself.:angry::bang:

One added note-the bags will also rub against the fender struts scuffing them up-or at least mine have. I guess I should have just bought a cheap set of leather bags and thrown them over the fender........

Thanks for listening--the bottom line-despite the problems, they are nice bags-someone just missed this problem. Maybe they should check with those of us that ride our bikes on a regular basis. It would be cheaper to correct the tooling now, rather than waiting, or just trying to put a band aid on the problem.

Not an excuse for BDM but they are almost all on furlough right now. It was only for a few weeks but got extended.

Again not an excuse but....

MC,
I understand the personnel shortage-My problem is with the way customers are handled. Over the last several months, I get little or no word on my bags. And when my dealer does, it's on something else they are wanting to correct-but not a damn word on the big problem. It looks to me, like they put a set of bags on a bike, it looked ok, so lets go into production. It appears that no one even sat on the bike to see if there would be a clearance issue. Or at least only looked at the left side. I spent a couple of years in R&D while in the Navy, and more as a civilian. I understand the problems that can and will come up.

Sorry, didn't mean to chew so hard...this has just got me a little pissed. Oh well-I guess I just got an expensive "tag relocation".:angry::bang:

I wasn't sticking up for them. Shabby service if you ask me. I was just stating that now they are on leave so may be reason for no communication.
Hope they take care of everything for you as they should.

I know Ray-I just wish someone would just tell me something-even it's no more than we're taking a little at the problem. Just tell me something--That would make me "feel" a lot better.:flag:
