ok i will not post again but there is a reason for market decline with anything.
Absolutely, and in this case it is called products that are bought with disposable income, and an economy that has severely limited that same disposable income.

so it be.

I was thinking it was a dealership.

I bet that bike could be had for asking price out the door.

Not many people going into HD dealership looking for a BDM.

i just think if other folks are in the market for a bdm and due their research they will find this site and i think they have the right to know before they buy. if i stepped on anyones toes so it be.
Ya and if I had listened to you, I would have passed on the best bike I've ever owned.

You bitch ass cry babys kill me. You buy a hot rod bike, and think you just add gas and go. If you want something that you don't have to wrench, buy a HONDA....

and if your gonna modifiy it, expect to have some issues..... The engineers designed it to work the way it is. They don't design it thinking it needs to be perfect with every and any modification on the planet.

Its nice that we can buy a bike like these and make them into our own, but your doing that at the risk of having issues.

If it's at an H-D dealer, I would think they would want it gone fast!! Hard to get someone to pay attention to an H-D when there is a Big Dog sitting next to it:D Just ask my wife! Her Harley has serious envy issues:whoop:.

Yeah, what a piece of work this guy Mike is. I mean, sheesh, he comes to a Big Dog support forum and throws in the statement about a Big Dog saying "a piece of junk to wrench on every day".

As others have said, what are the specifics? What "piece of junk" makes all Big Dogs pieces of junk? If Mike had a lemon, then so be it. But what exactly were the issues? Then he points us to some web site and tells us to "review unbiased opinions".

So now I wonder if he's calling all Big Dogs pieces of junk because of some negative reviews on a web site, or is he speaking from first hand experience?

He's correct in that people have a right to be informed, and certainly someone purchasing a bike should be able to see all the information out there in order to make an intelligent decision. Fair enough. That said, let me say to those that are looking at buying a Big Dog and see a comment from a guy who calls them all "pieces of junk" to take it with a grain of salt as he is not being specific, and some bad reviews on one site is just that... bad reviews on one site. Most people write something when they've had a problem, NOT when everything is going along as expected.

My '05 Chopper is coming up on the 60,000 mile mark, and yes, I've had my issues. However, Big Dog has ALWAYS gone way beyond the call of duty in getting things fixed, sometimes way beyond the warranty period. And, the bike is unique and a pleasure to ride. Sure, perhaps it's not as reliable as a Honda, but to me it's a ride that cannot be experienced on a Honda.

Sorry Mike if you had a Big Dog that was problematic. Can certainly be VERY frustrating and cause a lot of grief. However, please refrain from calling ALL Big Dogs pieces of junk due to one experience, or just because a site contains some negative reviews.

OK, I'm done ranting now.

Good rant Jeff.

I suspect you will pass me up on mileage this year. My season is coming to and end as far as getting any long distance miles in. Unless I want to go over the moutains in the snow!!!
I am at about 67,000 now. Maybe we will have to create a new color or something for your login name when you become the mileage King!! :D

:cheers::cheers:

It appears to be a great price and it is an asking price so there will be some room. If I had the dough right now I would consider it.

Hell, it is only 15 miles away from me. I started prepping the wife by discussing all the stuff I paid off this year etc. and then I told her if I got the right deal I was coming home with it.

Her only request was that I get rid of my current pup.

I know that most on here would prefer the current styling as opposed to the older but I have grown to love this bike and can't bring myself to even consider this as an option.

It's all personal taste. If you love your dog why pay money to get something else unless you like it a whole lot more?

You know, it's one thing to come on here with a specific gripe about your dog or some warranty issue or something like that.

AGREE, could be VERY aggravating and downright expensive!

And I for one, don't have that type of 'disposable income' laying around. Unless of course, I want my kids eating PB&Js for a few years!

However, to be vague and make such a broad statement about BDM when there are so many happy owners, you are just asking for trouble...

And I'm really getting tired of these guys saying "well, people have a right to know!"

Who made you our florence nightingale?

It's not like BDM is trying to pull something over on the consumer that we all need saving...

Geeze, get over yourselves...

I don't know too many problems posted on here that the membership wasn't able to address and provide some solid troubleshooting steps to get it resolved.

My thoughts are, if you no longer own a Big Dog (because they are such a piece of crap), why come here unless, of course, to stir the pot?

Guess some folks think it's lot's of fun to drop a firecracker into a wasp nest but you should expect to get stung. Remember...IT'S A BIG DOG OWNER'S FORUM!

Unfortunately, with winter quickly approaching, this place will prolly get worse before it gets better.

The other mods and I better 'coffee up' and get busy moderat'n!:2thumbs:
