Well since I am on my lunch hour and on my own time I'll spill it. I was in the South East to work on a couple of bikes and also do some meet and greet at a couple of dealerships as well. I was in Charleston, SC at a dealer and doing my thing when the owner of the dealership ask if I want to grab a couple of bikes after work and go grab a burger. So I say "Hell Ya!" and he points across the dealer floor and tells me to pick what I want to ride that night. There off to the side was a kick a$$ bobber so I pick that one with a FULL tank of gas I might add.
After work I fire up the bobber and he takes his jeep and I follow him to his house to pick up his bike. Once we get there he ask if I want to go for a dirt bike ride since the woods are all around his house and he has a track built back there. Once again "Hell Ya!" and I get to pick either the dirt bike or the 4-wheeler. I choose the wheeler so he goes to start the dirt bike and nothing. He remmebered that he stole the battery out of it for his bike he rides. I say "no big deal lets go grab a bite to eat then". Nope, he decides that I can take the wheeler and grabs the bobber I am riding. Off we go on the track and I have to say I was pretty impressed to see him take this bobber on this dirt track with jumps and hair pin turns and he is carving up the track.
After about 15 minutes of that we go back to grab his bike (52 pan rat bike btw) and we meet up with two of his friends and take off for the bay area. We end up after a 25 mile ride or so at this burger joint and grab a bite. As we are leaving the bobber hickup's once on me which made me think....hmmm. Well the 4 of us are carving it up heading just up the Cooper River bridge. Anyone ever see the Cooper River bridge? That is one big a$$ bridge. As we are going up, the bobber starts cutting out so I reach for the petcock valve and I cant find it. I coast to the side, still going up the bridge and after coming to a stop I find the reserve valve. A quick switch over and wick the throttle twice, hit the slam start and away I go.... for about 1/4 of a mile till the reserve ran out. So, sitting on the top of the Cooper River bridge I grab the phone and realize I don't have anyone's numbers here in Charleston. I call back to Wichita to one of our salesmen, Matt. Give him the story, he makes a call, 2 minutes later I have Showdog, who is in Michigan calling me laughing at me for being stuck on top of the bridge. After 1 hour of playing phone tag help finally showed up. Moral of the story is with a 2 gallon tank it's not a good idea to take a bobber and carve up a motorcross track for 15 minutes and then think your going to make a 50 mile round trip without stopping for fuel. Also on a 2 gallon tank don't trust the reserve, but a 1/4 of a mile - are you f'ing kidding me????
