jackshaft not engaging

Hey there. Hey, you had the same exact issue I am currently facing where the jack shaft will not engage the ring gear. Happens once or twice every time I try to start the bike using either the start button or the slam button on the starter itself.I’m just curious if you can help me out and let me know how you addressed it? I have gone through two starters, two brand new batteries, cables, and everything, and I cannot figure it out. Thanks for any help!
Easiest solution is to put the bike in 1st and rock it a bit. Then hit the starter. I had an issue where the spring would somehow get on the other side of the snap ring. Then the jackshaft would be janky.

I should have mentioned, I have a one piece jack shaft from All Balls. I have the proper airspace between the opinion and ring gear. I’m going to take the primary off later and check around, but I’m starting to suspect that possibly the inner primary seal is too tight around the jack shaft. I have a tech tornado starter, which is brand new as well as a new Yuasa battery with 330 CCA. No strange noises or grinding ring gear and jackshaft pinion teeth look good, and it only spins freely once maybe twice then engages.. have load tested battery, checked amp draw on starter, and checked resistance on all grounds.. now I’m starting to think it’s mechanical..

interesting I will try that. I don’t have the snap ring anymore because I have a one piece, but there is a splined washer that slides over the starter shaft and then just hangs out freely and the spring sits against it.
