It is a big bad scary bike...

Heres some fatherly (or perhaps grandfatherly advice depending on your age) stay away from a Ridgeback for a loooooong time son. This is not a beginners bike!

I have been riding for 45 yrs, raced professionally for 3 and I can tell you this is a beast, not for the timid or a learner.

Get some seat time on a honda, maybe a Sportster, but not on a Ridgeback.

The mechanics of riding is easy, its the staying alive part on the road that's tough.

Here's one other piece of wisdom to remember, unlike women, bikes rarely give you a second chance.

Looking forward to retirement
I'm telling you. The Buell Blaster is a great beginners bike. Has the Harley motor, so you can go to any HD dealer for service, handles great, extremely manuverable in traffic! It's just a great bike!

Ridgebacks Rule!

Congrats!

My $.02...
I started by riding a bicycle for a couple of years (after not riding MC for 30 years). Then a Suzuki VS800 for a couple thousand miles.

That being said I was VERY glad I made my learning curve on pedals and a small, light motorcycle. Dropped the zuki more than once and made some bonehead moves.

But... riding is riding. And there is NOTHING (IMHO) like a Ridgeback!:whoop:

Flip side... Lost a good friend who went off the high side with 300 miles on his sportster. Survived the accident, the hospital acquired infection killed him.

NEVER EXCEED YOUR ACTUAL ABILITIES! Over confidence kills.

Happy Motoring!
