I would start by disconnecting battery. Take plugs off of ehc. Your key switch is pins B21 ground & B36 input from key switch.
Check those pins with a ohm meter while turning the key. Key on should be a short key off open. If the key switch checks out might be a bad EHC. Let us know what you fine out.
Good Luck.

If the key switch is bad, meaning closed without key, and his EHC is lit up, then the bike should start.

Just trying to rule out on thing at a time. Yes I think it is the EHC. That is where the priest, a bible and a chicken comes in.
Maybe the lights stay on even after the battery is disconnected?

So I looked for threads about this with no luck so here's my question. I was riding my 2008 k9 an it dies so I turned the key off when I switched it back on the horn continously blows it won't start or anything. Minutes before this I switched headlight to bright haven't used the left side hand controls in awhile....also from time to time it won't start with the right hand controls either but I have a slam button from WSW....any help is appreciated
I'm going to agree with Alen and say check the headlight wires. They tend to burn up inside the bucket and could cause a short.

See post #11, he already did that:oldthumbsup:
He said "Well I checked everything u guys said the only wires that look bad was the head light ones but the lights on my ehc r on when key is off any more suggestions thanks guys"

He didn't say he fixed them......

I would pull the tank and check the wires on the backbone and the left hand control board. Its easy to do and then you would know. I can''t remember if my EHC stayed lit up or not when mine grounded out. Good luck and let us know what you find out.....keep us updated

Don't look like it needed fixed, head light wires are separated, in his hand, EHC still lit up. Fix what?
