is voltage 13.5 at idle ok?

Took vr off cleaned it re-installed . Still max volts are 13.8, also grounded directly to the vr with probe 13.85 max. So might as well order new one.

Which one did you buy?

Get yourself a good one. Not a part to cheap out on.

Curtis sells compufire for a good price.

Just randomly did you try testing with a different meter? Maybe meter is bad?

FYI here's the trouble shooting tree.

It actually states under 13.8 ...but since your right at the cusp it just seems fishy.

so I installed the new Voltage regulator from cycle Electric, and all reading are still the same 13.5 volts to 13.8 volts max

I barely read 13.5-13.9 while riding, right at 12 even when idling. From what I'm understanding from some is that of u have a weak battery it'll have a hard time keeping up. I'm looking into a new battery now myself. It hasn't left me high n dry but it does concern me a bit.. but it's been like this for almost 2 years now.. lol

Did you check the meter? Test your car charging with it before throwing more money around...
If 12 in idle is correct, you are actually discharging the battery... which in your case may be good, you can't handle the power of full battery

Yeah I checked my gauge with my meter and it's the same. I use my meter almost every day chasing electrical issues on manlift. I just had to use the hell out of my meter at the house after it got hit by lightning and I got the same readings the electricians did.. so my fluke is good, my Dakota is good.. battery just isn't all that great..

Absolutely nothing? Should be AC put the meter leads on both holes. Give it some gas too.

The bike was on right? Your numbers almost sound like it wasn't. Hah

Any softail EVO 32 AMP stator will fit

Ya was running. Tried both holes and grounded on each and together. Still nothing. That's why I figured stator. Voltage drops small amount at bat with full charge on it. When only had 12 at bat would drop to 7.4 when running. Or if pull pos side while running will die, even if motor reved up. Am I correct before I tear apart?

Yea sounds like it. The 2 holes on the stator one is positive other is ground so just need to put them together with the meter set to AC.
