Installing A New Cam Sensor On An 04 Big Dog Chopper?

Does anyone here have actual experience in replacing and putting in a new cam sensor on a Big Dog Chopper, preferable on a 2004?

I am looking to do such a task myself and need to know what to expect, how hard it is to do, and maybe a few tech tips which would be greatly appreciated...

Before removal just mark where the position of the sensor is now....the wire plug is between the motor and transmission....trace the wire from sensor back to that area and the plug is in the wire loom....unplug it, you may have a few zipties to cut, start working the wire out back to the nose cone until you have it out....install in reverse of this

It’s not a hard job compared to others on this bike. Knot got you all you need to know.

Say we use HD parts with that style cam sensor you showed. You are stuck finding a mounting spot for the black box the cam sensor plugs into. Plus, this style most likely takes a VOES for spark advance/retard loads. So you need to use an intake manifold with a vacuum nipple for the hose to VOES. Whereas, you can just use an integrated ignition system from S&S, where this eliminates the VOES and black box.

Setup wise. here at Leading Edge Ear Tuning, we center the unit at said locking screws, start the bike/stop the bike. We then move a little more advanced, start the bike/stop the engine. We find the quickest start with less engine crank-over.. wink wink, this side of starting backwards... is the field fix off to the side of the road kind of close enough.

But when an ignition unit first comes out of the box, read the directions fully, and then follow instructions.
