Knuckles lucky you are. I would've loved to rode that Indian. I don't see why everyone is calling them expensive, especially with the options u get. Cvo's are much more expensive, and just buying all the Harley accessories for a base bike add up. I dig all sorts of bikes for what they are, but I'm extremely stoked about what Polaris is doing with victory and Indian. These indians are beautifully built, powerful motors, classic looks, pioneering technology, what else can u ask for from an American vtwin? I'm excited, plus they will force Harley to up there game and that's a win win for us the consumers.

I actually feel the price is very cheap. When you think about what you get. Harley has the CVO or Screaming Eagle models, but those are over $30k. This Indian, with the 111, for less than $20k. Seems very good to me. Plus the power train is more smooth than anything I've ever ridden. Again, I think they will do well. I'd do, they obviously will expand color options, accessories, models, etc.
Time will tell I guess.
I'd like to ride one. I agree with you the price is good compared to a CVO
I have a 2011 CVO with the 110 and it doesn't make 119 torque.
It sounds like their electronics are more in line with the BWM touring bikes.

I can't stand the chrome trim on the fairing front or the huge fenders but I havent heard a bad word about a Victory but they are boring to ride IMO

- Pricey?!?! People will pay a premium to not look like every other F'er on a Harley....most all of us did!

Me, I wouldn't buy one, but I'm glad to see the competition--welcome to Capitalism for the second time Polaris!

For $23,389 you can get a brand new HD ultra in one of their sunglo colors. What do you get for that beyond the Indian, well the ultra has cruise control, abs braking and a security system. Also a tour pak, plus the comfortable passenger pad and arm rests, to include additional speakers and controls for the radio/intercom/cb system.

Additionally there are over 1400 dealerships in the us alone, as compared to Indian who plan to have 125 nationwide, sometime in the future. That means that service for the HD is far easier to come by, not to mention all the other shops that service V-twins and will have parts available for quick repairs.

Other items for thought are the accessories available. HD has their parts and accessories catalog, not to mention Kuryakyn, Custom Chrome, Drag Specialties, just to name a few. Thousands of parts and accessories are available for the HD from many different vendors. The Indian will most likely be very proprietary for some time (kind of like BDM) so accessorizing will be limited.

On the plus side, at least Victory dropped the price of the indian, making it at least affordable. I'm sure that it will have it's appeal with those that owned Indians at one time or another, or the Victory owner looking to upgrade, or the person that wants something a little different (like many BDM owners) and will pay more for it.

But I don't see any real impact in regard to HD. HD has been producing their motorcycles non-stop since 1903. The motor company has the best marketing in the business. They've created an entire lifestyle and culture around their product. It's almost scary, like a huge global cult.

Maybe Polaris can pull it off, but down the road I see the Indian line and the Victory line (Victian? Vindian?) morphing into a knockoff HD product like Honda and Yamaha has tried to do, and resulting in something that supposed to look like a HD, but isn't and then when the owner looks to resell the machine, is completely shocked at how little value is retained.

Whoa!! The first American motorcycle company doesn't need to make a knockoff Harley. Umm for petes sake they just relaunched the company. Why do people think Indian is supposed to instantly have 8,000 dealers, every imagineable color option and combo, and a aftermarket empire? That's waay too much to expect from a company that just did their unveiling less than 10 days ago. Harley has been unchallenged for soo long of course the only " all American" vtwin is going to have a big fan base. People forget Harley had Alot of ups and downs during their reign, and truthfully I believe America wasn't gonna let Harley fail considering no one else was available to carry on the American torch. People just think Indian is supposed to be completely perfect in everyway to everyone.....that's not attainable. Once things start rocking and rolling I'm certain more options will be available across the board, and additional models will come some from the past and some new to the market. Plus the aftermarket world will definitely grow as Indian grows. Polaris tried their best to bring a classic American icon back with modern day technologies and comforts, and I say give them a chance before looking in a crystal ball predicting their demise. I hope they're here to stay forever along with victory. Competition is good for everyone, it's a win win people!! I have no hatred for Harley, but is choose to be open to experience other American companies, and refuse to say one place has the best cool-aid without ever tasting the other place's cool-aid. I can't change anyone's stance or ideals, but lets atleast stand behind another one of our American companies. Godspeed Polaris, Victory, Indian!!

Im not trying to say anything bad about the new Indian line, just pointing out the obvious. Indian has come and gone 3 times already. I have friends who purchased Indian motorcycles that were Gilroy, only to be told that they were not real "real Indians" by the dealer when the last company from NC owned the name.

I hope Polaris does it right and keeps Indian separate from Victory, but the rep did make the comment that they dont know what is in store down the line for the brands. I would just hate to see a Victory with an Indian badge on it, thats all.
