I took my new bike out for a short ride and heard this god awful noise coming from where? It sounded like it was on the left side-primary. It was making the noise in fourth gear. When I downshifted it seemed to quit. But when I went back into fourth again, there it was. Terrible!.
So like a good member I searched and searched our forum. Before I get wild and think it may be the tranny, I thought I'd check the primary chain tension (it did seem to jerk or buck back and forth at slow speeds in first gear). So anyway, I took off the derby cover and pulled the clutch to see if the chain moved in any way--; it did not. So I put a socket on the clutch hub nut, and it seemed very, very easy to spin off. I put it back on and it never tightened. It just spins and spins. Should it have been that easy to unscrew?
Okay, I got the allen wrench and removed the bolt, but now the nut wont come off the bolt. It's like it is stripped. I can hold the bolt in place with the allen and spin and spin the nut which doesn't moved in either direction.
I guess I was lucky when I first got it to come off, but I think it was stripped at the factory (it's a brand new bike). I've read the torque should have been 150 ft lbs. I don't have a service manual yet....didn't think I'd need one until my first 500 mile service.
I'll try to attach some pics. And yes, I am clueless when it comes to this stuff, but I am trying. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Do I need a new bolt and nut?
