I have 60K on my present Big Twin, plus many more miles on other m/c's I've owned through the years. Just about every aftermarket Ignition I've tried has "Sh*t the bed" in 1 year or less.
At 40,000 I installed an aftermarket set-up which left me on the side of the road (In a downpour), luckily I brought my original stock ignition along on my cross country trip... My speedo read 45.5K.
In March of 2012 the same thing happened. I had purchased (Another brand) aftermarket Ignition & in March of 2013, the same thing happened to me (I was local so I called a friend to grab my trailer), but I was up & running the next day (Again) with my stock 2000 ignition.
I wish someone had a point set-up for a Twin cam, either that or maybe I'll spend some "Heavy" money & install a magneto!
In 1990 it happened to my EVO, luckily I had a points set-up with me in Reno.
Yes... I've heard similar stories.
Those aftermarket ignitions aren't guaranteed very long & in my case not long enough for me to get reimbursed! As they say... Sh*t Happens!
>> ANYONE ELSE (Have similar experiences) OUT THERE IN THUNDERLAND?
