If the cost was all the same, Wire Plus, PDM, or rewire the whole thing?

If cost was all the same, would you get a WP, PDM, or Simplified Harley Harness

If all options cost the same, taking into account parts and labor, which would you choose?

-Wire Plus

-The new PDM

-Complete Rewire to a simplified Harley style harness. Change out the bars and controls. High/Low beam on a switch on the back of the headlight bucket. Plunger style start button on the starter, key-on ignition, no idiot lights, no horn (unless needed for inspection), no kill switch. Oil Pressure Gauge on engine. Just 1 button on each handlebar control, for L/R turn signals. Stupid simple electrical system that anyone could easily troubleshoot.

Well since I had ordered one of the PDM already and it should be at my stealer waiting for me when I get home. Have to go with.

By the way, you have changed a few to the PDM if not mistaken. If correct on one for 05 and later, did the new BD PDM allow for the self canceling turn signals and flasher function. Seems to be unclear and possibly different info comng from BD.

Thanks and safe riding

NAMZ custom cycles in Ft Washington, PA will rewire your big dog with a simplified harness, with kill switch, start button, and horn on the bars. Including basic hand controls, and chrome bars matching the big dog bars total cost is $1100. That includes everything, badlands module to run your signals, etc. The owner, Jeff Zielinski, has a published book out on wiring custom choppers and his shop is top notch. Give him a call if you're interested, tell him Moe sent you.

Would the wiring be hidden in a simplified harness? Looks wise I'd say PDM. I like the looks of my stock controls. Tough to decide. I'd probably go PDM now and when the controls and everything else takes a shit then go the Harley harness way.

Wiring will appear as stock, though not nearly as many wires. Hand controls can be anything you want, depends on how much extra you want to spend. Keep in mind you can get a small fortune for your bd hand controls on ebay. Check them out.

Where can one get more info on this? The BD site is pretty much worthless when it comes to getting any info. As for the survey I would go with the less amount of wires or the simple way. If I wanted a Harley wiring on the Dog I would of bought a harley. These are special and one of a kind. I would like to keep it that way. Just saying..

IMO, I did the wireplus 3K ago. I sold my EHC and ignition switch on ebay and bought the wireplus from Jake. Out of pocket was $34. Labor, if you have to pay someone to work on your BD you will go broke, so I consider the 9-1/2 hours to do the switch as bonding with my toy. Moe's question suggests that the results will be the same in all three options. Since BD could not get it right the first time I would not give them another chance. And the stock bars and controls are part of what a BD is. I am very happy with the way I went. And the peace of mind on the long trips is priceless.

There will never be a kit. It's not hard at all to do it yourself, but guys are so resistant to get rid of the BD harness and controls, which is the number one weak point on the bike.

Here's a shot of the hand controls I put on when I rewired mine:

And here's a shot of all the wiring when I was done. That's every wire in the bike, right there in that picture. Take a peek under your side covers at all the wires in there to see how Big Dog did it.

 Moe, that is real clean. If you could just figure out a way to mount that screw driver somewhere hidden, it would be perfect:roll::roll::roll:
