How to remove neck bearing races

Good tips Paul, are the bearings roller or ball? For installing them I would think a piece of threaded rod with large washers and nuts on both ends would draw them (races) into the neck.

I have a question, why do they recommend you change these at say 10K-15K when these same type tapered roller bearings are in the front wheel assembly of cars, for 50-60K, and they have not only have the weight of the car on them but their also spinning with the wheel? I know from time to time you can get some bad parts, like Franco's busting, but shouldn't these last a lot longer than 10-15K on the average.
I have a little over 15K on my Mastiff and they feel smooth and drop off is good when I check it on the jack and I have no play if I try to lift up on the front wheel.

Sorry Paul if I high jacked your how to, but this question kinda fit in, but I have been pondering changing mine and wondering how I was going to get the race's out, but you made that easy with this how to.:2thumbs:
No sweat, good to hear.. Good luck !

They are roller bearings! I actually thought about using washers with a vice to press the races in. My experience with freezing the races and heating the neck worked well.

Heating and freezing is still a must no matter which way you install,
Thanks

I said needles thinking [needle]bearing and yes, I meant ball for the neck race. The other theory I am sticking too is to rub both hands together: which one stayed cold? So between friction wearing each other out, same goes for the race and ball. If the race has an indent, then that ball has an equal and proportional indent as well. So both race and ball are junk: if the race shows the obvious indents.

If ride in sky, and man grips pushed and pulled are like puck gliding on air, I would then say indent out to lunch:lol:
