Energy One
Hello guys yall have been a big help here for my battery starter and other needs i finally got to getting into fixing it and realize how much stuff you have to take off just to acess other bolts and stuff. If any one can tell me how to take the tank off so i can replace the ignition i would greatly appricate it here is a picture of where im stuck there is only two bolts holding a plate to the frame and the plate needs to be removed to slide the tank over the frame how do i get this plate out ?

That plate (item 18) has two rubber grommets (item 20) on each end that engages into channels in the tank.

To remove you have to rotate the plate 90 degrees.

To do so, temporarily leave one (item 21)bolt loosely in place, remove the second.

Then use a long 3/8" extension on a ratchet inserted into one of the square holes in the plate and pivot it 90 deg around the bolt.

Once the plate is disengaged, you slide to tank forward to disengage from the the rear mount (item 12)

I have never had to, but a little lube never hurts

Okay so i figured i have to take the crossover valve off that goes from tank to tank number 15 in the picture to fit the 3/8th extension in where 14 is labeled because it allows more room from top of head to tank

Correct, you will need to disconnect one end of the crossover hose (15)

Just slide the clamp (16) to the middle of the hose and pull it off the hosebarb. (17)

Sorry should have mentioned that.

Its probably set on there pretty good so will likely need a pick or screw driver to work around the circumference to free it. Good time to replace it too. It’s just 1/4” fuel line you can get at any auto parts store.

Have I ever mentioned how proud I am of all the members for being so giving with the information needed by the new members and any that ask???? Thank You.

Since your going to replace it anyway, just cut it in the middle. That way your not dicking around trying to get it off the connector.

Do i reuse the clips that were holding the fuel line on ? Its amazing how much has to come out to replace the ignition i guess they want you finding anything else that may be wrong on your way. The tank is blocking the torx bolts holding the ignition the plate is blocking the tank the line blocks the bolts
