I remove & install a lot of S&S COMPRESSION RELEASES. I DON"T go over 28 ft. lbs. of torque due to the poor thread arrangement. Nor do I use any thread locking compound on them. Also check the release for a loose jam nut between the solenoid and base. You will need to file down the jaws of a 7/8" open end wrench to fit/tighten that nut.

Awesome just made me start working on mine they never worked all 8 or 9 years I've owned my 2005 big dog chopper rat bike . I just checked mine the rear was so lose I used a screw driver in the notch on top to un screw it. Now I know why I ALWAYS have had performance problems. Always got it to run good but never got it 100% tried new carburetor, new electronic ignition ,and so on.....
I've had this scooter about 8 or 9 years kind of a rat bike. But man have I had problems it was all stock when I got it.
1.clutch exploded in the cases took it apart was in 4 pieces went to an autoclutch got arthritis in hands
2. Headlight melted the plug shorted out Headlight burnt up some wires
3. Rear wheel came lose at the hubs (bolts tight)
But play in hubs had to have them welded.
4. Everything electric took a dump ,speedo ,tach, would shut off in the middle of riding for no reason I got a boat fuse box and rewired the entire bike front to rear no more big dog electrics left. Got a GPS speedometer
5.front end all seals blown leaked everywhere had to change everything
6. Changed out from a belt to chain drive, I have it posted here some place my old account couldn't remember sign in.. bike was green then
But I still love it.....

Here's the chain conversion I did.
05 Final Chain Drive Conversion Complete
Hi all FYI I just did a 05 Chopper Final Chain Drive Conversion... Other then needing a couple of Spacers/Washers for the front sprocket.. There was a space between the sprocket and the nut I made 2 washers works perfect.... I did not have to cut my clutch cover or grind it at all...
